"Ok, I have a like/hate thing going on with this school. My son attended for his kindergarten and first grade school years. He absolutely hated it. Now that I have taken him out and he’s attending a different school, he seems like a much happier child and is actually EXCITED to go to school each day. He seemed stressed out and had anxiety while attending purpose prep. I liked the curriculum. It was great. However, there needs to be a balance. It’s like jail. They don’t play outside, they cannot talk to other kids during lunch (they literally have silent lunches where all you hear is plastic packaging rattling from food, in a room FULL of children) or anytime throughout the day for that matter, and they have SO. MUCH. HOMEWORK. He had so much homework, it was stressing ME out. They have homework every single day. Yes, weekends, holidays, every day of the the year. Even in the summer time. I can understand sending packets for the summer but it shouldn’t be as much as it is. The kids don’t get a break, even when they’re on break! So much pressure! This school may be for some kids/families, and that’s perfectly fine, but it wasn’t for us. I gave it two stars because he definitely learned a lot while there, however was it worth it? Was my child happy? Was he excited to learn? Did he want to go back? The answer to all of those questions is no."
"This school was very strict with rules that wasn’t needed and too much homework for young children. Ultimately the fun experiences I had in this place was why I gave this establishment 3 stars. Also looking back at my time here it was very clingy and weird, I feel like all children should be treated as if they were in the real world. Going back to what I said in the beginning rules like, back straight, feet together, and sitting in star aren’t necessary or beneficial at all. Let the students have a little freedom. I also suggest for the amount of homework given to the students should be reduced at least for the students who are doing good with there grades, and for those who aren’t failing or having bad grades should have no homework for the weekends or breaks. For the last thing I will talk about is how you treat bad students. See other schools send bad kids to detention, but for this school you have checks and color changes. Green is good, Orange is amazing, yellow means you could do better, and red means you did terrible. All these rules are based off of if you break one of this unneeded rules are normals rules, if you do you get a check but if you do something really bad you get a color change. The change I would make to this is that you should JUST ADD A DETENTION! In conclusion this is all of my many ways how my experience at this place was and how you could make it better for other children. Written by,Cedric Onuoha"
"This school has taught my son to think about his future. The 'college-bound' theme is a phenomenal idea within their curriculum and every corner of the school. If you want a balance of discipline and academic, this school is for your child. This is not a 'common' classroom environment. It is rigorous, it is challenging, it has rules. The teachers are top-notched, passionate about their work, and are honest. My son is aiming for Harvard because of Purpose Prep."
"Our son has been at this school for 2 years and we can't believe how much he has learned in such a short period. The administration's standards and expectations for these students are HIGH and they do not settle for less. Our son is so excited about learning and literally looks forward to returning to school EVERY DAY. The school is heavily involved with parents and the community and to know that they truly CARE for their kids takes so much stress out of our lives everyday. We would recommend this school to ANYONE who is willing to truly commit and has a true passion for their kids' success!"
"This School has gave me a lot of problems from the beginning. This was my sons first year in a Charter School. In the beginning, the school was everything that i wanted it to be. The staff was very understanding, caring, and punctual. Since, the school year is almost over i guess they are tired of my son so, they have not been letting him use the restroom. My son has had an accident on himself over six times this semester, two times resulted in him being soaked in urine all day without my knowledge. Their only excuse has been that they don't see his hand and that he raises his hand not his bathroom signal. The principal and some of the teachers are really rude, and feel that every child comes from a single parent home. The curriculum i give 5 Stars, communication, and understanding a 0. Any thing that a child does that is not in their cookie cutter curriculum will eventually be singled out and removed from Purpose Prep. I warn any family that attends this school they are small, and very suspicious."
