"Dr Maikis was great. Performed my surgery well. But her front desk staff(and billing lady) were rude and mean. I had surgery 2 months before my appointment which left me at a balance of over $1300. She asked if I could pay on the balance or set up a plan before I am able to be seen.(which I called the day before to get that current appointment so confused at why they didn’t tell me about the balance before telling me to come in. I tried checking in and front desk told me to pay my copay($55) and that she will ask Dr M if she will see me due to my emergency situation going on. She said no. So they schedule me an appointment just so I’d come in and pay $55 instead of telling me about the balance over the phone. I called the next week to talk to office management about my experience and she agreed it should have been handled differently as the staff and billing lady basically told all of my business to the other patients waiting to be seen. It was very unprofessional and annoying. Office manager called back and said there’s nothing she can do till I pay the balance. So now I’m starting over at another doctor which is great about payment plans and working with patients. Idk this office didn’t feel like “home”."
"At first, Dr. Maikis was so helpful to me. She confirmed my obgyn's suspected diagnosis of endometriosis through excision surgery in Jan. of 2023. However, last week she told me I was no longer an endo patient, that my endo was not severe enough to cause pain because she found two spots of it, that the longer I wait to have kids the harder and more high risk I will be which made me feel rushed (I am 24, in grad school, and currently do not have a partner), that I am too young for it to be adeno, and that she has no answers for me and can no longer help me. The invalidation and misinformation from a specialist who I thought was good has left me extremely disappointed and now I am searching for a new one who will take me seriously. The number of spots of endo does not correlate with pain severity. My regular obgyn confirmed all of my suspicions when I told her what Dr. Maikis said. I will no longer be a patient of Dr. Maikis. I have heard excellent things about Dr. Furr in Chattanooga and have set up a consultation with him."
"Easily the worst experience of my life. Living with a pelvic floor disfunction that limited me from ever being able to have a pelvic exam, I had been through two types of PT, seen a specialist and then was referred to her. I was informed I would not have an internal exam, and that it was a consultation. She greeted me, asked to do an external exam. With no nurses or other people in the room, along with no lubrication, she stuck her fingers inside and I repeatedly asked her to stop while she told me to relax. She angrily told me I her office if she had done that to my arm it would not have hurt. I left crying, and in pain. It hurt to sit. She called me later that day to apologize after I called the specialist that referred her to me, along with the manager and head doctor of that department. She stated that she did not read my medical notes that were sent over to her for referral, and then proceeded to let me know she did not do an internal exam, which was a lie. She asked to allow her to do the procedure to help my disfunction while under anesthesia, which I declined as I could not trust her. I spoke to another local who stated they had a very similar experience with her, and would never go back to her alone. I was horrified and will never step foot near her again."
"I went to Dr. Maikis 4 years ago to discuss my options on surgery. She had the worst beside manor and ego I've ever experienced with a doctor. She also didn't look at my notes to see I had previous surgeries for endometriosis. At the time I felt desperate to get help. After not listening to me, she told me to call her scheduler to get surgery and to just get this over with. I almost went through with it but then learned through other endo sources that she is not a credited or vetter endometriosis excision specialist. I also ask other ladies who had had surgery with her previously to get there take on it. All but one said they were still in pain and needed more surgery within months of their surgery. Therefore, I went to Dr. Furr in Chatanooga (who is vetted and credentialed) and I am now currently pain free."
"Highly recommend Dr. Maikis for endometriosis management and the robotic hysterectomy she performed for me. It was the best recovery and minimal pain after surgery. Having struggled with endometriosis for 20 years it’s been a life changing experience to be done with the pain from endometriosis. My ovaries were left so I’ve enjoyed normal life activities with no side effects post hysterectomy. Cannot recommend her enough! Best GYN surgeon in Nashville, TN."
