"Sleezy. The man is a skilled dentist, but do not trust his word. I went in for a consultation. After, they printed a two page quote, with one price on one, another price on the other. His wife and office manager said, "He said to treat you nice, so..." and wrote down a lower price in red ink of $7000. This price is not within my budget, so I told her as much, took the quote, and started to leave. I had it in my mind to work on ways to save so that next year I could come and get work done there. But she stopped me and grabbed the paper from my hand and said, "That is only for here." I was taken aback that in this day and age someone would try this old trick. I told her "That is illegal. I have a right to my quote in writing." She told me to wait, and went in back to talk to Dr. English while tearing up my quote. Shortly after, Dr. English handed me an unaltered $10,000 quote, and said, "Our pricing is internal only." I told him I would file a complaint (which I later did) and left his office. Under California law, you must honor a quote you give a person. To remove evidence of that quote in order to charge a higher price is illegal. And sleezy. I was planning to have him do my dental work. Now I would not trust him to even wash my windshield without slight of hand. Unless you don't mind a dishonest manipulating business criminal as a dentist, I suggest seeking your dental services elsewhere."
