"I was referred to by a friend and I couldn’t be more happier. I was having a hard time looking for the right dentist ever since my dentist retired. I’ve been to a couple others but I wasn’t happy with their work or cost. Dr Kim and their staff made me feel welcome. They welcomed my insurance and worked with me on the cost. They did a fantastic job cleaning, and the workmanship was more than I could ask for. I would highly recommend Designed Smiles."
"Designed Smiles really is the best office! The entire staff is always so friendly and they see kids too. My six year old actually enjoys coming to see Dr. Kim and his staff because they are so patient and welcoming. The office is very modern, clean, and easy to locate. 5 stars for sue!!"
"So I visited Dr. Kim, was presented with a $3,700 dental treatment plan, got suspicious midway through, and asked another dentist about his dental work. The good: - The dental work Dr. Kim does appear to be legitimately high-quality. From what I've been told, dentists like him often do a hack job, but the fillings he puts in are shaped just like the original teeth. The bad: - Dr. Kim's staff was quite friendly, so I didn't notice at first, but I didn't actually get the impression that he himself respected me as human. - If Dr. Kim has the slightest excuse to drill and fill one of your teeth, it seems he'll do it, even when a milder intervention such as fluoride treatment would still be viable. Dr. Kim's treatment plan called for an inlay and 11 fillings, while the other dentist I talked to said I needed less than half of that. Actually, to be more precise, he said that three teeth needed filling, two could be managed through other means, and that the others seemed all right. - The additional cost isn't the only issue here; he's also replacing your natural tooth and metal fillings with composite fillings, which have a shorter lifespan. - On the other hand, possibly since there's no profit to be had from referring someone to a dental specialist, he didn't even mention my partially impacted bottom-right wisdom tooth, which is clearly visible to the naked eye. Informing me that it doesn't require removal would have been one thing, but pretending that it doesn't exist is another. - I was outright lied to about having been given a porcelain inlay in my first upper-left molar, with less long-lasting composite filling work to which I never consented being placed there instead. - My later complaint about feeling pain in that molar while chewing was ignored; the dentist I consulted corrected my high filling almost immediately upon my meeting him, remarking that it wouldn't have been so easy to polish down if it were porcelain. - Of course, the people there tried selling me the obligatory unnecessary night guard. - Dr. Kim's office offers a plan that includes X-rays, cleaning, and an oral exam to patients for $199. However, after I backed out partway, they claimed that those procedures had a ~$570 value and deducted that from my refund. After I requested my refund, I was also retroactively charged $90 for the adjustment on the 17th of the dental work he messed up himself. Luckily, I got away just before Dr. Kim began drilling his way through my healthier teeth. It's unfortunate that he apparently lacks the ethics to match his professional skills, as I would absolutely be able to recommend him otherwise. Added are the proposed treatment plan, account history reports from May 17th and May 19th, and a signed statement from the other dentist as evidence that, among other poor conduct, Dr. Kim's office lied to me about having received an inlay and attempted to cover their tracks afterwards. Edit: For some reason, the treatment plan and statement seemed to be showing up while the history reports weren't. I'm sure it must have been a bug, so it's been fixed as of the time of this edit."
"I called Dr. Kim's office looking for a second opinion. I spoke with Jenna and she was a delight to talk with, very understanding of my concerns. I went for my appointment and Carmen was also so very nice and gentle and caring along with Darlena. The whole office staff is excellent and Dr. Kim and his work is amazing! I highly recommend him. He is honest, his work is great and he is very gentle. He has a great demeanor about him. I am so happy Jenna was so nice to talk with and it helped me to make my desicion to come to Design Smile :)"
