Vanderbilt customer service complaints

"I was supposed to have surgery at 8am this morning, I get to the hospital at 5am and sit for two hours before they finally come and tell me the surgery had been rescheduled for 5pm. I was going to have to sit in the uncomfortable waiting room chairs with no food, nothing to drink, and no sleep from 7am until 5pm. I'm diabetic and disabled and I didn't get any sleep the night before because I was nervous about having this surgery. I told them I couldn't do that, so they rescheduled me for March 15th at 8am. I have now had to wait once again for this surgery. Another doctor and hospital would not do the surgery in late December because they would not accept my insurance, so I had to change doctor and hospitals and wait almost two months, now I have to wait another three weeks. I have two words for what happened today, VANDERBILT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"In spite of paying over 25,000 to BCBS with company plan, but not yet reaching our deductible- Vanderbilt’s cost of basic office visit and followup are extremely expensive ( about 600$) You are not told the cost in advance. It is apparent to us that hard working, insured patients are being gauged."

"I was recently a guest at your hospital while my mother had heart surgery. She was on the 7th floor and I have to tell you the evening shift was incredible. They were a pleasure at a tough time. I wanted to be sure you heard from a pleased family member. Thanks so much for your skill and compassion."

"Terrible patient service. I brought my wife to the emergency room at around 1am with heart/ chest pain. It's already 5 am and we are still waiting to have her seen by a physician. They have only taken vitals and blood tests. I asked why are they taking too long and they said because they don't have enough rooms. I asked why they think that everyone needs a room or not. It is illogical to assume that every patient needs a room. They do not want separate those who need a room from the ones that may not and could go home instead of having them waiting for so many hours. This is a 4th world communist style emergency service hospital. Instead, they could have a specific doctor checking those testing results and then letting the patients know if in reality there's an emergency situation or not. I was talking to an old couple that arrived here at 4pm and have been here waiting for almost 12 hours."

"Well where to begin…. Original surgery time was 1pm. 10:30 am the OR nurse calls and asks if I can come asap. Sure let’s get this over with. So I arrive at 11:22 am. I have been sitting here for over 2 hours hungry and nervous and not a soul can tell me what is going on. Not to mention the incredibly rude woman working at surgery check-in. This is ridiculous. Why call me in and act urgent then leave a patient sitting. Never again Vanderbilt hospital. I’m still sitting here waiting….. upset now before my surgery. Wonderful."
