Red Wing - San Jose, CA

"Late last year, my friends bought me a pair of what seemed to be brand new Vasque hiking boots as a "thank you!" gift for organizing a 2 week backpacking trip. My old Vasque Taku GTX's had finally worn out (after 6 years of heavy use in the Sierra Nevada!). What I didn't know is that these "new" boots probably came from an old overstock that had been sitting for years: when I started wearing them, almost immediately, the whole Vibram sole came off! :-( I contacted Vasque / Red Wing Shoes customer support, and interacted with "Halle H.". After sending her photos of the issue, she informed me that these shoes had been last produced in 2007 (!!!), and were obviously out of warranty. But nevertheless... she kindly sent me a coupon for 100% off (yes... you read that right!) on my next Vasque purchase. She obviously did not need to do this at all, but apparently, Red Wing Shoes REALLY takes customer service to the next level! I visited the local store in San Jose, CA, and met with the store manager "Lucky Farales", who turned out exceptionally knowledgeable about the products they sell (and WOW! They DO sell great shoes!). He first measured my feet, pulled out a pair of Vasque Talus AT UltraDry's, and the fit was perfect right off the bat (which is not obvious: there's only a few brands that fit me well). He then advised me to order online, so I could apply the coupon. I did, and received the shoes within a couple of days. They're PERFECT! Now be honest: Where do you still find customer support like this? Kudos to the people at RWS. You really rock (pun intended)! From now on, it's RWS all the way for me."

"The shopping experience was great and Matt was very helpful. I tried on two different sizes in the Iron Ranger boot and even bought a different pair of boots for work including insoles. When Matt was putting the Iron Ranger boots back in the box I asked him to make sure he had the right size in the box and he said it was correct. I live in Stockton and told him we drove there for this specific boot because no other store nearby carried them. These boots were a Christmas gift imagine how awful it was to open my boot box on Christmas morning to find that I had 2 right boots in my box. Now I have to take an extra day to drive over 1 and a half hours back through Bay Area traffic spend more money on gas and waisted time to get the correct boots."
