"Horrible service. And by horrible I mean nonexistent. Last night the last two flights into SBA, including the one I was on, were both about an hour late. That put the planes on the ground about 20 & 40 minutes after official closing time at Hertz. Instead of sticking around to serve their paying customers like every other rental car experience I’ve had in similar situations, the Hertz employees left the airport completely. They couldn’t find it in themselves to stick around for 20 minutes! There were about a dozen parties stranded without cars. Some had plans to drive a couple hours away and were instead looking to book last minute hotels and/or rearrange the rest of their travel plans. Weekends ruined, money wasted, all because a couple of people cared so little about their customers that they punched out at 9:00pm on the dot despite knowing that they still had customers coming in on the last two flights. I’m Hertz Five Star and give them thousands of dollars in business across the country every year, but will never rent from this location again."
"This Hertz will charge you $60+ charges to your credit card without notifying you and if you don’t catch them in a timely manner, no one will help you at corporate or at this location to get your money back. Even with proof of being wrongly charged (pictures of before and after, gas tank fill up, receipts, etc.), they won’t help you. I would not recommend hertz unless you want to pay extra charges for nothing and be told “sorry, we can’t do anything about it.” Awful customer service and poor business policy."
"Oh boy. Not that people check Google Reviews before booking from a national car rental company, but Santa Barbara Hertz was laughably horrible. Let's go over the reasons. 1) The front desk person was rude from the onset. Not only was he unfriendly to my wife, I heard him swearing under his breath to another customer. (Shoutout to Rueben!) 2) The carseat they gave us seemed expired and it was confusing to assemble, and it came with no instructions. They just tossed it to us. And it had a spider on it that I caught right before it crawled on my daughter. Neato. 3) The car they gave us had a dangerously dark window tint on the back window. It was so bad that with sunglasses (this was Santa Barbara after all), we literally could not see out of the back window through our rear view mirror. So dangerous. I can't believe they rented that to us. We immediately mentioned it to the desk agent when we returned it and they just said it wasn't their fault because they get the cars from Los Angeles, or some stupid excuse like that. 4) On numerous occasions before and during the rental we tried contacting Hertz Santa Barbara over the phone and couldn't reach anyone. It just rang. At least 5 different attempts at different times of day. 5) The car had a malfunction notice flashing on the dashboard. Alarmed, we tried contacting someone from Hertz Santa Barbara, and, again, we couldn't reach them because they don't answer their phones. Probably the worst experience I've had with a rental car company. They don't even try."
"The Platinum team is wonderful. They went "above and beyond" to help me with arrangements. The counter staff at Santa Barbara airport is exceptional. Connie called to help me make arrangements since I would be arriving late. Overall a terrific experience. A customer for life and a strong advocate."
"Service was fine, but the cars they had were terrible. Rented a premium model and they gave us the most beat up Cadillac I've ever seen. There were constant oil change and air bag warning lights coming on. The car interior was scratched up from dogs. And the outside was dented and scratched up making me think It had been in an accident and not repaired."
