"My car (2003 VW Golf, 1.8T, manual transmission) would not start. It was 5:30pm on a Wednesday evening and I was stuck in my office parking lot 20 miles from home. This is my only car and it is crucial for my transport needs. Engine cranked but would not ignite. Ugh. I wanted my car towed to a garage near where I live so I looked for a local mechanic and called Sausalito Imports. Chris answered on the second ring, was knowledgeable, polite and clearly explained where to have the car towed and where to specifically leave it in his lot, how to drop the key through the shop door, etc. He called me the next day with the details; I needed a new fuel pump (which was exactly what I thought the problem was for a 90,000 mile vehicle). He ordered the parts and installed the pump (and new fuel filter) for a fair and reasonable cost. On Friday morning I was back on the road and now over a week later the car runs well. Sight unseen Chris took my car, slotted me into his schedule, and efficiently did the work. I took a risk using Sausalito Imports. I had no prior awareness of or relationship with them and not only did they complete the work quickly and for a fair price, Chis takes the time to explain things and he did not try to upsell or perform unnecessary work. The work was excellent, clean and professional. The fuel pump in my car is accessed from inside the car under the back seat. There were no stains, gasoline smells or anything out of place. Everything was clean, reassembled and in perfect running order when I picked the car up. I high recommend Chris and Sausalito Imports. It's great he is near my home and makes the community much better. Thank you Chris."
