"I was a returning customer and I had a terrible birthday dinner tonite. Me and my friend drove from OC on Tuesday night under heavy rain, when we got there it was not too crowded and it had few big tables available. Maybe waitress thought we wouldn’t order too many so we got a tiny little place. Meanwhile there were another 2 groups with 2 parties came in same time, they got big tables, interesting. After we finished order, it’s definitely too many for a tiny table but waitress even not asking if we need a bigger place. Unbelievable! And she checked several times for other tables but just 2 times for mine, I had to ask her for more water… back to food, I don’t know what happened but every single course was way tooooo salty we barely to finish even half of the plates. And other tables had a quite long introduction about the main course ( the signature duck) but we only had 1 min briefing. The manager checked back to us and gifting us a free cheese cake which was sweet, thank you. But honestly it’s just too late. I was too disappointed and rush to leave because I need get some other options before all restaurants closed. Total was $458 or $485( my friend paid the bill I couldn’t remember clearly) for 2 ppl with cold service and awful food, I don’t think you want same experience as mine. Btw we are Asians. Updates: Ann, thank you for your sweet explanation with everything, first of all please be aware of, as customer service, I think your employee should have their judgements to check if customer needs a bigger table or could just kindly offer “ hey I think you might need a bigger place let me know if there’s anything I could do for you” I think this is more decent way as customer service especially as a M1 star restaurant. And as I mentioned during that time there’s more than 1 bigger table available, there’s nothing wrong if you guys can’t offer a bigger table at that moment, but as better customer service I think you should and you could even just ask. I work as luxury retail I know what customer service is. About Waiter/ waitress checking, I strong recommended you check back with your camera see if I was telling a truth or I am creating drama. And way back to the food, I understand for some time somehow, it might happened the food was overcooked or over seasoning. But if the entire courses came with same issues, I think you should improve your quantity controlling instead of pointed that I was wrong or I declined your options. Because it’s unacceptable if a M1 star restaurant had such issues. And forgive me I had no time to wait you guys re-cook everything. Because I don’t need pay my time for your mistakes. Overall, thank you for your cheese cake again but good luck for your future business. Have a great night!"
"Great meal! Everything I ate was outstanding, from start to finish. The duck for 2 is definitely something I would recommend. What an experience…! Basically duck three ways: in the salad, in the pudding, and roasted breast! The pudding that comes with it was a true surprise. It had duck leg inside –absolutely mouth watering! It’s about $100 per person just for that fish, but there’s a lot of food that comes with it. I eat a lot and could not finish. I asked for a bag to go and still had a full meal for lunch the next day! The chocolate soufflé was also really good and pleasing to the eye. We started with the Quenelle. It was very delicate, well presented, and with a touch of caviar! Quite unique and something you should try, as you don’t find Quenelles on many menus in LA! And I’m French so I know what I’m talking about! The ambiance was great also. I loved the open kitchen vibe. It was quite busy on a Wednesday, and it had that friendly neighborhood restaurant vibe. The service was great and overall we had a really good experience. It was definitely on the pricey end (about $200 each), mostly because we ordered the most expensive dishes on the menu, but I’m really glad I did have the duck at least once! I would definitely go back!"
"This is a very swanky French restaurant in Santa Monica which is great for a special occasion. Things to consider: the outdoor area is very casual compared to the interior. I would think twice about reserving a table here especially given the price point. At the end of our meal, a cockroach climbed up the tree next to us which is not what you want to see when you’re paying the prices you’re paying. While our server was top notch, even he didn’t have words for this except to say he was sorry. I probably would have bought us dessert or taken something off the bill. (Note: They did not offer any compensation.) Things to know: the food is wonderful as is their wine list . The service is 5 stars all around from the host to the runners and the bussers - they were all great! Food: The best things we ordered were the salade d’endives and the tartare. Chefs kiss for both of these. On the contrary, the halibut was a pass for us, but I can see why someone would feel otherwise. All things considered, it was a nice experience at Pasjouli."
"Excellent french restaurant on Main St. Santa Monica/Venice. Place is very french, from the decor to furnishings to servers and food. Everything tasted really good, from scallops and halibut to most amazing potatoes you will ever have. For desert we could not wait for a soufflé so we went with french version of bread pudding, and that was heaven. Cocktails are amazing as well. Great service, very attentive."
"Is it expensive? Yes! Is it worth it? Absolutely! We didn't plan to go here, so no reservation, but we could still get a high top table near the bar, and that's a great location for a first time visitor, since you feel like having orchestra seats. We went for cocktails, followed by the pan-roasted sea bass, and the butter-poached halibut, respectively. Both delicious, and with a side of the demi baguette, we could call it dinner. Now we will have to come back and try out the rest of the menu."
