Danville Stride Rite

"TERRIBLE SERVICE! It was my first time in this store and I had my toddler with me. We waited patiently while the sales woman finished up with her current customer. She did not even acknowledge our existence (Waited maybe 10 minutes and we were the only other customers). I had a pair of stride rite shoes that was a gift, and immediately the sales woman said no returns or exchanges. Okay, I figured I could work with the person who gifted them to me to have them return it and I'd just buy the correct size while there. She did measure his foot and told me the size he needed. I asked if we could go ahead and try the size he's in. She seemed annoyed that I even asked, as she probably thought I wasn't going to buy anything. She went to the back an looked, and said she didn't have any in his size. I find it hard to believe that they were out of all three colors in his size. She then started helping the next customer, she didn't even ask if I wanted to try anything else and basically just moved on. She was rude, judgmental and gave terrible customer service. Needless to say, I just left. I'll never be visiting this store again."

"This store has THE BEST SERVICE! Tom and the employees here are super patient and amazingly knowledgeable when it comes to kid shoes! Tom has been in the industry for decades and knows how each brand and style fits, wears out, holds up, what works with orthotics/braces, what works for wide or narrow feet, you name it! He also can estimate when kids will next need shoes, and also has a knack for estimating early or late seasonal changes and when to buy appropriate shoes. The store may be small so there’s not a lot a room for several families at once, but they have a nice method of calling names in order if they get busy, so just be patient if you come during a very busy hour, it’s worth it. Their selection is incredible for such a small store: they have a vast array of shoes and socks (including Vans socks in small kid sizes up to adult!) for babies up to teens. This is our favorite place to shop for shoes, because of the service, selection, and awesome local business owner we get to support! My kids are 2, 7, and 11 and they all love it here. Come shop our local gem of a shoe store!"

"My 10-year-old boy is in a size range most kids stores say is too big and adults stores say is too small. (Who invented this system?) This store had options in his size and we found one he loves. The gentleman was wonderful, but I did not get his name."

"We just took our 8 month old son here for his first pair of shoes. They measured his foot and recommended age/activity appropriate shoes. The woman helping us was knowledgeable and so sweet with our boy. He had a great experience and so did we. We were happy to find and support a local small business that adds so much value to the process as opposed to buying online. Thank you and we will be back."
