Brass Bear Uptown

"A nice casual restaurant in upper State Street area of Santa Barbara. Located right next to the municipal golf course and MacKenzie Park, it is centrally located between the Samarkand and San Roque neighborhoods. With a full bar and various options for beer and wine there are plenty of choices to be enjoyed on the outdoor patio, which hosts some unobstructed views of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Dining options consist of an eclectic mix of pub and bar style food, such as hamburgers, salads, and even chicken cordon bleu. The food is tasty and decent quality but certainly not fine dining. The outdoor patio is spacious and can easily accommodate both small and large groups. There’s even a dedicated area in the back for small children. While the space is clean and comfortable, it’s fairly average in terms of decor and ambience. The view can certainly compensate for this on a nice day. At peak times parking can be a challenge as there appears to be more seating space than the parking lot can accommodate. If dining as a group, best to come in as few vehicles as possible."

"My wife and I loved this place. It’s super family friendly and has amazing food. The staff and ownership are friendly and professional every time. The outdoor patio is extremely comfortable and has great views of the Santa Ynez mountains. Whether you just want to enjoy some wine around their many fire pits, or have a tasty sit down meal, you won’t find a better place!"

"Came for the drinks, stayed for the food. I was expecting this place to be similar to their old downtown location, but was pleasantly surprised they had some good food. The pros were good service, good food, good venue. The cons were no parking (had to park at Gelson’s down the road) and this weird sticky sap falling from the trees. The chairs and tables were extremely sticky. Apparently they were understaffed and apologized for slow service but we didn’t notice that."

"Great burger, and the tri tip skewers were awesome. Great fries, good beer, cool outside patio. Wasn't crazy about waiting outside in the sun at the 'wait to be seated' sign with another family while nobody noticed we were even out there."
