"I like this place a lot. It's full of all the things you want but don't need, including great gift ideas. The prices are a little on the high side, but it's in midtown and a local business, so they charge what they need to keep the doors open. They have a lot of wonderfully kitschy things: mugs, magnets, cards and present wrapping stuff, notepads, tongue-in-cheek books and knickknacks, kitchen stuff, pride stuff, kids toys, etc, etc, etc. I took a couple pictures of adorable things I don't need to be spend money on (to share with friends who ask what I want for my birthday). And yes, they can be touchy about people parking in their parking lot. They have a large parking lot that is never more than half filled in an area where the parking is tight and very scarce. They are next door to a large and very popular barber shop with no parking at all. In fact, none of the thriving restaurants, bars, and shops on that block or across K St have anything but street parking. If they weren't vigilant, their legit customers would never have a place to park and they couldn't make ends meet. So, yeah. Don't go in and buy $2 worth of candy and chat with the lady to try legitimize the fact that you parked there to get Mexican from across the street. The signs are very clear. Parking is only for Mixed Bag customers only. (FYI: I have never known anyone who owns or works for this business. I just recognize and appreciate a local business that has clearly taken a lot of dedication and sacrifice to still be around for decades... especially a kooky store like this one.)"
