"It's one thing to say, "We take immense pride in offering world-class service, and will notify Leadership!" But it's a whole other step to actually implement it!!! This is the worst safeway in all of Santa Cruz. It was a pleasant store growing up shopping in up until recently with this new crowd you have running the front end. Not only are these new women terrible employees but they are down right mean, rude, and deserve an award for being the best at making customers feel extremely unwelcome in our own neighborhood grocery store that not only have I been shopping in my entire life but my whole family has also. Since this i now commute. Super disappointed!"

"Store hours says it’s open 24 hours - it’s not. Went for drunk munchies and they let me down. Don’t believe them when they say open 24 hours."

"Constantly delayed fulfilling orders, delayed retrieving orders, now canceling orders outright hours after placing it. Not exactly the archetype of efficiency. On the other hand, every employee I've interacted with has been courteous."

"While I was checking out, the cashier needed a manager. They ended up being one of the worst interactions I’ve ever had in a retail setting. The manager Selena or something similar treated the super friendly cashier like she was stupid and took the meat that wouldn’t scan and kept trying to scan it very angrily. When I told her, we already tried that and the barcodes is cut off she snapped at me for absolutely no reason. When the cashier said that there was a 30% coupon on the package she wouldn’t allow me to use the coupon. She kept claiming that she already scanned it when we both pointed out that it wasn’t scanned and showed her the screen she threw it in the coupon receptacle where we couldn’t reach it, and then stormed off. A few other cashiers witnessed this this and apologized to me as I left the store."

"My local Safeway, the best one in the county by far but unfortunately gets ravaged by slobbish customers and thieves. On any particular day the shelves are emptied of regular items but it's not for lack of good merchandising by staff it's just a busy location. Sadly drug addicted idiots target this place for theft constantly. The outside of the establishment looks horrendous constantly. There are carts everywhere and trash in the lot. Customers and lot squatters just ruin the outside. It's just sort of a gross and anxiety fueled experience walking in. I like that it's a large store and can still get by on having a good selection and there's a large self checkout area so no waiting during normal hours. I really wish they would keep self checkout open later. Between 11pm-2am there's a long line of night owl shoppers all being funneled through one checker. Some people have 100 items while someone behind them may have 1 or 2. That shouldn't happen with a multi billion dollar corporation. They could easily afford the attendant for self check."
