"We ordered the sashimi 20 peace which came with a bowl of rice and a side salad. That was $50. Big portion that fed 3 people. We also had the $15 assorted yakitori. Try the bacon wrapped mochi. House sake was good."
"Small but charming Japanese food place located in North Berkeley. We went in late on a Sunday but the girl was very nice and told us she didn't mind if we stayed a little past closing. She was very helpful with the menu and super friendly. We ordered a little tapas plate of skewers and a salad. Both were delicious and served promptly. We stayed only about 10 minutes past the 930 closing time and she was super nice about it."
"Chicken bento box and salmon bento box… both were pretty bland as was the miso soup. No tofu, scallions, or green onions. Sushi was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary either."
"We ordered the tuna tataki and the tuna was gray and covered in a sweet sauce. I have never tasted such bad fish. It was so bad we were worried. We also ordered the corn that said that it had a miso mayo and chili. They served us plain grilled corn. It was so frustrating and insulting that they thought they could get away with serving absolute trash and still charge us for it. Definitely skip this place. I do not know how it is in business. I love speaking highly of skilled chefs. This is an insult to the industry."
"Overall just an okay experience, wouldn't recommend nor come back. Fairly small shop with one waitress, not much variety of sushi rolls. The sashimi combo was very disappointing since it was a 20 piece with only 4 varieties of the standard fish. The tuna was very mushy which makes me think it had been frozen for too long. Only the salmon was great even though I had a bone in one piece. The pieces were also not the same size which is disappointing. Lastly we had booked a reservation and had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. Next time I will try Saul's next door because it looked great and was much busier. There's also another sushi restaurant on the corner that looked more bustling. Pricing pretty standard, $13 for rolls, $20 and $36 for sashimi combos. Happy hour could be good if you live nearby."
