"Been experiencing an increase of negative vibes and customer service at this particular Safeway. A staff member, I believe a short older Hispanic woman is the most unpleasant/ rude and unacceptable altogether, along with other staff working in the Starbucks area and throughout the store. The women staff do not smile at anyone! They appear grouchy disgusted with shoppers and just grumpy overall. I came to purchase a bag of oranges and actually decided to just leave. I am a regular shopper threre but I will need to reduce my shopping at this location and attend wholefoods or trader Joe's. I will drive 10 minutes away to shop at another Safeway. The shopping experience at this Safeway location has really gotten low vibed with staff and probably need to go. Also the store reeked of hot fish upon entering. As if the refrigerator had broken. At least at wholefoods I can walk into a display of fresh smelling fruit and produce. A cry out to Safeway Corporate. This has been going on for quite some time now. A good year even . You might want to check in on your Safeway store and staff in Walnut Creek 600 S Broadway. I'm being most serious and not sarcastic at all."
"Today I really bad experience at safeway in walnut creek (Broadway walnut creek) w/ Felicia she's a cashier w / a very bad attitude and racist ,she refused to take my passport as my identification since I just lost my California ID and that was the only identificationI had with me at the moment, passports are a government issued form of ID and can be taken as a valid form of ID anywhere,I asked to speak to the manager, she was called and after checking the passport, the cashier was told it was ok to take it,after that Felicia seems he got upset because she started throwing my groceries rudely ,I didn't say anything I just thought it was funny for her behavior, she didn't even say thank you or anything l,she's a very bad element for this company, she should be moved to another department in which she doesn't have to deal with people. It was a very bad and disappointing experience."
"Very clean store, friendly, helpful employees, good parking, was open Christmas Day minus the on-site Starbucks. Of course, this goes without saying, but never get sushi at any Safeway as you're sure to be put off by taste, quality & texture. Bakery is very fresh. Aisles always stocked well. Cleanliness = expected of a location in Walnut Creek. Also thankfully they still have 3 self checkouts open, this isn't ghetto Oakland or SF where shoplifters just run around picking off anything they want without paying. Also we've never seen a homeless person in Walnut Creek like some other reviewer said they saw outside of this Safeway at night. I think all the homeless walked over to SF actually."
"It's not horrible, but it's not Trader Joe's, Costco, or Whole Foods. Prices are wildly high for the quality. I really only shop at Safeway if: it's the only option for miles in any direction, a gun is to my head, or we're nearby and need something bad enough. It's pretty clean, but I will try to not come back. A similar loaf of bread is 3x Trader Joe's prices. Wild."
"Should I give this store five stars or one? I guess it depends on the time of day I shop here. For those of us who frequent this location, the people who work the check out are generally fabulous people. A few have really stood out over the years like Dora and Camilla, but management seems to be a huge problem and their refusal to hire proper support staff ruins the experience. They are almost always short on baggers and the parking lot is typically in disarray. Also, the lines are usually very long and the workers are frustrated with short staffing. For big shopping days I typically go to other stores and if you come here after dark, the vibe is not good at all. The clientele changes after dark and it’s not as comfortable as during the day. I’ve been shopping here 25 years and keep hoping it will improve. So far, it hasn’t."
