"It's been quite a while since a review has been left. So - let's gives this a shot. While looking for a new wine club for my fiance and I, we were impressed with the Explore Four 4 PACK Monthly Themed Subscription (coming it at $99 a month plus shipping). It seemed reasonable for the price point and we signed up. We knew that orders would be shipped via a "climate control" option which was seemingly a cool option. What we didn't know beforehand, they put holds on orders if your region was "too hot" as it risks damaging the wine. Not being a wine expert, we took this at face value and waited for the weather to break. Living in the south, this took about 4 months from the time we started our subscription. Frustratingly, we received no updates during this time. I reached out twice over 3 months for updates and was promised my wine was on a pallet just waiting to be shipped. The communication from SommSelect through this period was terrible, and ultimately is why I decided to cancel my subscription. We have 3 boxes of wine still waiting to arrive (we have finally received shipping information as of 3 days ago, but all that seems to have happened was labels being created). On one hand I am sympathetic to the alleged needs to ship wine at an appropriate temperature, but communication to customers must get better to communicate updates on a more consistent basis. As a paying customer, I shouldn't have to for an update. I wish this company the best - they did just recently file for bankruptcy (which despite their protest, may have something to do with the lack of communication) but they say there will be no change to operations (which may not be a good thing...). I will try to update this review once I receive my wine."

"They say they are open during the week but have never been able to reach them. Your best bet is to stay away, or charge back on your credit card since they fail to give you a way to easily pause or cancel membership. Definitely will not be a returning customer."

"Ordered 4 bottles in July and still have not received it! No one ever answers the phone and I have only had 1 call returned. Emails eventually get answered and the standard reply is they are checking on it but still no wine. Highly recommend you avoid this shady company!"

"I have to be honest, since I only knew about Ian from the Somm films, I expected this company to be a bit pretentious. After all, in the film you would expect it but if you wanted to buy from any of those in the film, it would be Ian. Everything we have ordered from there has been awesome and they do a great job of having $20-$30 bottles of great value and allowing us access to rare opportunities to buy some more expensive gems in the $100-$200 range. I especially wanted to give a shout out to Lisa Schmidt who has gone above and beyond in helping me if I have any questions. I recently utilized their “build a case” and had some questions. Lisa answered me via email immediately but also gave me her direct number if I had any additional questions. Cannot recommend Somm Select enough, a truly awesome experience for us"
