Reviews of Nam Thanh Bánh Canh 3 Miền
"Pretty interesting bowl of noodles. I thought the noodles is going to be spicy, but it's not. Interesting flavor and it's worth trying. They are cash only or venmo. Ended up paying $25 for this."
"The broth here is super thick! Also recommended using a napkin bib unless you're an impeccable noodle eater who never splashes. Bánh canh cua (crab udon) was super filling, had to keep adding in lemon juice they offer on the side to help cut through the rich broth flavor a bit. Overall tasty, but definitely come hungry since it's a very filling meal."
"Awesome spot for bánh canh in San Jose. I personally don't like when people call bánh canh "Vietnamese udon." Udon is made from wheat flour. Bánh canh noodles are made from tapioca and rice flour. Moreover, they're of completely different textures and taste widely different. To call it "udon" is a disgrace to Vietnamese cuisine. I usually get the #5 (banh canh cua dac biet - $15.75) with crab, shrimp, and pork knuckle. The broth is here is thiccc and pork-y. Ain't nothing like a pork knuckle in a savory soup broth. Also, a side of chao quay/you tiao/Chinese donut is typically eaten with banh canh - it costs $3 here. Amazing family-owned spot in San Jose serving the best banh canh!"
"Rich and savory love the banh canh cua here. The Chinese doughnut can be a little more fresh."
"Authentic and tasty Vietnamese Bánh Canh in town. The fish sauce can be very strong but it is true to what this type of noodle is supposed to be in Vietnam. The soup base is delicious and the meat is also great. Their noodles seem to be homemade, fresh, and chewy. A bowl of banh canh here is huge and it makes me feel absolutely full and satisfied for the day. I’m gonna come back here when I have a crave for this noodles again!"
