Reviews
"The main dish, which is the pupusas, costs $5 each, and they are regular. They're small, they are not that tas and y, I didn't like them. Yuca is very dry. I'm not recommended"
"They overcharged us probably by $10. The menu and what she billed us differed greatly. Idk if they were trying to rip us off intentionally, or to ascribe positive intent, the menu was outdated -- but it would have been nice to know. Also as with some of the other reviews, the food was slow to come out. The portions weren't large and I left hungry."
"Food was exceptionally good! Great atmosphere, good service, good prices."
"Wow! I liked the flavor, portion size and variety of options at this restaurant. I would definitely come back again. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed their organic chicken soup. It was so delicious and the basil in there hit the mark. I squeezed in some of the lime after using it on the grilled chicken. So darn tasty. The pupusa was also very delicious. I could pass on the corn tortilla but that's only because I didn't grow up with this staple. The quality of the food was really good and the service was very kind."
"It was like being right back in my abuela's cocina - kitchen, after taking the first bite, tasting that first spoonful of soup. We had a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. We started with their sopa de pollo (Ranch Chicken Soup). The sopa had chunks of potato, carrots, calabasa, chayote, green beans. This order includes a side plate of pollo asado - your choice of chicken breast or thigh and rice, plus two handmade tortillas. So delicious! We followed that with three of their cheese pupusas. The cheese they use is made in house. The curtido is fresh, not overly drenched in vinegar, full of flavor from the ingredients used. We also ordered a side plate of plátanos fritos - fried plantains. This came with a side of frijoles refritos y crema salvadoreña. We finished with an order of two empanadas. This was special to me. Most Salvadoran restaurants make this with leche poleada - a sweet milk based custard, if you will that is inserted like jelly is into a donut. But in this case the empanada is a mash of plantain that is deep fried, then rolled in sugar. When I was growing up as a kid there was a restaurant that used their black refried beans as the filling. We have a difficult time finding places that will also make these sweet empanadas and use brands as the filling. SV Cocina and Pupuseria does. And they are delicious. The horchata was getting made, so we opted for their fresco de jamaica. It had good taste, if only a bit sweeter than were used to. The staff is great: truly friendly and attentive. This is a place to definitely visit if you are craving great tasting Salvadoran did when in San Jose!"
