"Love this place. Excellent spicy red House salsa excellent green salsa. They have good vegan options. The whole pinto beans are vegan. And the refried black beans are vegan. The regular pinto refried beans are not Vegan. They have vegan rice. Also made without chicken broth. I love that they have a tofu option, which is deep fried tofu. And they also have a veggies option. The corn tortillas are really good here, loved the taco. They have a separate breakfast lunch and dinner menu. I hope to try the Chilaquiles next time. They also have enchiladas. Really love this place. Great ambience. Very nice inside. I’m in love with both of their salsas. The refried black beans remind me of Oaxacan style beans! Also, the mole is not Vegan or gluten-free, FYI. Highly recommend checking out this place."
"Amazing restaurant. Instantly became our go to Mexican restaurant in Berkeley. Food is delicious. Meats all flavored perfectly and tender. Reasonably priced. Taco Monday and Tuesday all day $3.50."
"So this place is awesome. A Clean, Beautiful, wonderful Mexican oasis on University in Berkeley. Carnitas burrito was large and delicious. $13 Authentic and warm reception. Red salsa is hot and tasty, green is chunky and lightly sweet. Thank you!"
"I just had one of the best burritos that I have ever had anywhere!! First of all, their burritos are generous in terms of size. I have had plenty of large burritos that were just “meh”. This burrito was an “oh yeah” from the first bite. I opted for the seafood burrito with shrimp because I love shrimp. Let me interrupt myself to say a few words about ordering dishes with shrimp. Most places skimp on the shrimp. There, I said it! I hate it when places skimp on the shrimp! Now, back to the burrito. Not only did it have a generous portion of shrimp, but the shrimp were big and juicy. On top of that, the rice, the beans, the slaw…it was all very tasty. I opted for mild, but you are free to get it spicy. Oh, and the burrito was $14 and it was worth every last cent! To top it all off, I had a absolutely delicious watermelon/pineapple agua fresca that hit the spot. Mercado 925 opened July 2023. As you can see from my photos, the inside is stylish and clean. They have a bar so you can have tacos and tequila if you want. I will definitely be going back there to try the other items on the menu! I give it a 9.5 out of 10 and highly recommend Mercado 925."
"So, I moseyed over from Berkeley's 4th street the other Saturday, thinking, "How far can a decent lunch spot be?" Lucky for me, it was just a breezy 6-minute walk away. If you've tried finding a place to eat with a dog in tow, you know the struggle, but this joint had me sorted with two tables outside. Now, onto the good stuff: I opted for fish taco, Al pastor, and carne asada mercado style. Threw in chips, guac, and salsa for good measure. And man, that guac? Spot on. Some places mess it up, but not here. Fresh, chunky, and the salsa had just the right kick. Also, major props for those house-made chips. A shoutout to the server who, without missing a beat, brought over water for my dog. It's the small things, right? When the tacos hit the table, I had this moment of, "Oven-cooked? Really?" But trust me, one bite in and all doubts were gone. Flavor-packed and surprisingly juicy. That and the agua fresca (super refreshing by the way) made my day. Honestly, this place just shot up to my top Mexican spots in the Bay. If you're around, give it a go. I'm definitely heading back soon."
