"This was my 1st time at this establishment and it definitely won’t be my last. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was phenomenal and the taste was exquisite. It was also my birthday. Unfortunately I didn’t get a free piece of cake and I did mention it to the server. However, I was able to take a picture with the owner and that made my day and he also had just had a birthday. I highly recommend this establishment, if you love soul food you definitely came to the right place."

"I came here before the start of an NBA Sunday game around 3:30pm, luckily the walk-in wait time was only about 30-40 minutes. The appetizers and drinks came out very quickly. The fried green tomatoes are among some of the best I have had around. The cocktails are sweet with enough liquor to keep you satisfied. The entrees took a bit more time to come out, but the wait was worth it. The fried fish and oxtail were among the standouts with wonderful seasoning and fried to perfection. The shrimp and grits were very tasty as well and can be perfect for dipping. The fried chicken here is good and fried well, but I expected it to have a bit more punch in terms of flavor. All of the sides including the okra, rice + beans, collard greens and the yams were all excellent! With how well the veggies are prepared I would be tempted to try their vegan menu. Both the banana pudding and the peach cobbler were a lovely way to end the meal. I'll definitely be back for the smothered pork chops, gumbo and red velvet cake."

"First of all, if you’ve never been here, what are you waiting on? This place is located right in middle of LA Live so the scene is great and exciting. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan on going after 4pm. Once you get in, it does take a while for the waiter to come to your table probably because of the lace being so crowded. The drinks are good and there are plenty of alcoholic choices to choose from. The fried deviled eggs at a must order. Don’t sleep on them. The rest of the menu is awesome. You can’t really go wrong with anything you choose. This restaurant is owned by Kevin Johnson, former NBA player(Phoenix) and mayor of Sacramento. He’s there on most days too. I would definitely recommend going to this restaurant."

"If you are in LA and is looking to get your soul food fixings, this is the spot to go. It's also my go to spot if I am in downtown convention center/Crypto Arena area. They got really nice vibes. Great service. Delicious food. Generous portion. Good price for its location. Even family friendly because my kids loved their chicken and waffles too! Oh and if you are a vegan eater they have a vegan menu too!"

"Came here on a Thursday Night and it was packed. I highly recommend getting a reservation. This place is located in downtown LA so parking could cost you $20 to $60. I love the smothered chicken, fries and the mac and cheese. The oxtail was a little spicy but it was big. Service was great and the food came out quick after ordering. 4 stars because the cornbread was hard and didn’t taste that fresh. But overall, I’d say this is a pretty decent place to get your soul food fix."
