"First the positives: Upon first glance, the presentation seemed as if this place was going to be super authentic because it had an authentic ambience. So we ordered a sampling of the different pupusas and a breakfast plate. The horchata and jamaica drinks were good. The negatives: After the man went to place our order in the kitchen, he came back while I was on the phone and demanded I paid him right then and there. I had to ask him to please wait until I was done with the phone and would pay him. He just stood there watching me the whole time until I paid him. I can understand they may be concerned about dine and dashers, but we had literally just sat down and had not received anything yet, not even drinks so his urgency for payment behavior was strange to us. Unfortunately, I soon found out why he was in a hurry to get paid because as we were waiting for our food, we saw a cockroach right under our table. The place didn’t look particularly dirty, just older. But for people who may not have experience with cockroaches, this might have them running towards the door leaving them with uneaten food. I wish I would’ve thought to take a picture of the cockroach but I was just trying to get away from its path. I had taken a picture of the menu before this all happened so I will include. The man was a bit on the rude side when we first got there because I said the wrong name of the breakfast plate and corrected myself and he grunted as if I had just made him retake the whole order. However, he did become more pleasant once our order was out and checked if we needed more salsa. Now for the food; the pupusas were ok, not bad but not great. I have definitely had better other places, and of course from family members who know how to make bomb pupusas. For the breakfast plate- the casamiento was dry, flavorless and had a funny refrigerator smell, and I’m not sure what crema they used but it tasted different, maybe more like Mexican crema or something else. Overall, I did not enjoy the meal, and did not enjoy knowing that there were roaches running around because my abuelita always said, if you see roaches running around in plain sight, you have a serious infestation problem in the kitchen. Also, they only accept cash or Zelle (BUT NOT ON SUNDAYS) so if you’re going to eat there and it’s a Sunday, bring cash! Lastly, all the parking spots were taken or had cones blocking the parking spots so we had to find parking on the street. This was my experience and maybe just a one-off day so you can take it or leave it, but I just know that I would never return to this restaurant."
"Great pupusas and the best coffee I have ever had in LA. It took me back to the coffee I had in El Salvador. The owners, Don Memo and Niña Dinora will treat you like you are a family member. Bring cash though, they only accept cash or Zelle. It is worth your time."
"We love their popusas!"
"The worse place ever, of course I do not recommend this place in absolutely. Durty as hell.worse service ever!"
"The owner is very rude. He handles the money, he cleans, and he will handle your food without washing his hands. That’s not healthy! He’s just interested in making money. The parking is not convenient and the place is located in a horrible location. The owner doesn’t accept debit cards. Who in this century don’t accept cards? This is ridiculous. Don’t support horrible places like this so called restaurant."
