Reviews of My 2 Cents LA
"Food was terrible. I mean...I was flummoxed. I was confused and I was appalled. Black owned?!!!!! Food was way underseasoned and chicken was dry. I almost threw up in my mouth when I bit into the baked egg. It had the consistency of rubber and zero taste. I gagged involuntarily and spit it out in a napkin. I NEVER do that. There was one employee with locs who came over to see if we were okay. He made his rounds while I saw other people on their phones. I didn't have the heart to tell him that the food was below quality and I was upset I spent 50 something dollars on it and why was my total 50 something dollars? 22 plus 22 is 44....tax is 8 something???? You pay first and the Sunday Brunch is 22 dollars a person with less than a half dozen options to choose from (more like 3 to 4 in the two categories side and main). You get your own water they only had lemonade to offer and their own fridge had premium water. I was gonna try the desserts until they told me they made them. The brown sugar caramel cake sounded good but I didn't wanna be fooled a second time. I was really looking forward to trying them. They've been on my list for several months as spots to patronize. Will never return."
"Fire! Fire! Fire! What a hidden Gem this restaurant is. I have seen Then for a while and decided to try them out and boy was I impressed. I had the chicken club sandwich that was bursting with flavor a salad and some black eye peas that were just incredible. The Black Eyed Peas may be the best I've ever had. I'm not gonna tell my mom though. It has a great atmosphere with fantastic smooth enjoyable music. I love this place and can't wait to come back soon To try some more of the dishes they have on their menu."
"Counter service/full service restaurant I ordered the fried chicken with 2 sides, $21. The fried chicken was not so crispy and it was almost wet in some ways of grease or water or something. The flavors of the veggies and the sweet potato was great. I don't know how much sugar was added in the sweet potato though... Good service, clean bathroom, small parking lot and lots of street parking. Lots of cakes on display that looked yummy."
"Southern goodness that is not overly greasy! It's pretty healthy tasting in a good way and fits the LA scene. There's street parking only so it can be a bit of a pain. The Grilled Catfish was done well and I got it with Cheesy Grits. The Sweet Potatoes and Collard Greens are really tasty too! Must have then together. They also have a big selection of desserts too so get some to go! The Upside Down Pineapple Cake is simple and delish!"
"I found My Two Cents while searching for a brunch spot in LA and I am so glad I visited, especially since I supported a black owned restaurant! I was eyeing the catfish but they were all sold out. Unfortunately for me (since I am a pescatarian) there weren't many options on the brunch menu but I decided on ordering the waffle with sweet potato hash. My bf ordered the chicken w/ grits with a side of eggs. The eggs were perfectly seasoned and both of our plates were plated beautifully. ORDER the sweet potato hash, it was GREAT! The honey biscuits that came with our order were good too. There are a couple of seats inside and outside. Service is quick and staff is friendly. Would definitely come back here when visiting LA again!"
