"Short review : Best to skip this to-go overpriced place Long review: We went there as we thought this is a restaurant, but it is just a to-go place with some city park style benches outside. At first we couldn't locate it as it's inside a gas station and in a grocery shop, while we were looking for a restaurant. As someone mentioned in earlier reviews, they will charge Card fee 3.5% without informing you and you don't know the food prices until you pay for it. Honestly their prices were way too expensive for their home cooking style to go place, also their utensils were too cheap. For their price, we can get food in a decent style restaurant with good service in a metro cities like LA/SFO Bay area (To compare: our previous dinner for 2 adults in LA best indian restaurant in town was $60 and here we paid for $50) Unfortunately due to above reasons (Over priced + Cheap utensils + No restaurant like ambience and service + extra card charges), we have to give 1 star or lesser. Not sure how come this togo place got so many ratings!"

"This place is at the back of a gas station. We had our doubts when we pulled in, but decided to give it a try. The food literally blew us away, kids (meanest critics) were asking for more! The food is made to order and prepared right in front of you. Yes, there is a bit of a wait, but all good things require patience. The saag and chana were some of the best we’ve had, better than most places in the Bay Area. Do give them a try and you won’t be disappointed!"

"Super busy place. The smell of Indian food is fantastic. Quite overpowering! Samosa's were really good. Lots of other Indian take-out options! Gas price though? Almost $1.5 more then Arco that's right next door...."

"Disappointing experience! I would highly recommend skipping this shady establishment and going few miles north or south to another Indian restaurant if you are craving Indian food. It seems to be a family owned business located in the corner of a gas station store. First off, they do not have any prices on the menu, so you don't know what you are paying until they ring you up. I ordered a 2 side combo and the total before tip came up to be $17.92. They also charge you a 3.5% fee for using a card without mentioning that there is a fee for using card. For a homestyle kitchen in bakersfield, with to go only and no seating it seems steeply priced compared to similar places in LA/bay area. Chicken curry - it was more like watered chicken with chopped onions and tomatoes. (can be seen in the pic) Spinach - lacked flavour, tasteless The combo came with a huge portion of rice and very little curry, so I ended up throwing most of the rice away. Never going back here again!"

"Was driving up from SoCal to the Bay Area. I missed my regular rest/break exit and took the next one. To my pleasant surprise, found this Indian (Punjabi) gas station store. They have a section inside the store where the sell freshly cooked food. The specials for the day included "Rajmah Chawal" (Kidney bean curry and Rice). So we had to order that :) Also got some freshly fried samosas. The Rajmah Chawal was very delicious and had a nice flavor of "ghee" (clarified butter). The samosas were nice and crunchy on the outside and the stuffing was tasty. I gobbled one without even dipping it in the chutney. This store looked like a family run business and all the people were very friendly. Now I have a new spot to stop for gas and food between SoCal and the Bay! P.S: They saw my 3 year old with me and gave her a complimentary sweet (gulab jamun) :)"
