"Had dinner here. Ate inside but deck looked inviting next to flowing river and with lots of heat lamps. Had the best salad of my life, their winter beet salad with salmon and avocado added. Everything was perfectly cooked and service was friendly and attentive. Pricey but worth it."
"This place is one of my absolute favorites in Big Sur. The atmosphere/surroundings are unique compared to other restaurants in this area. Yes, ocean view is beautiful, but this river is, in my opinion, just as beautiful. Last summer, we sat in their wooden lounge chairs in the river, and it was gorgeous. The water levels are high, current is too strong, and water is too cold to do that during winter. But the sounds of the flow are amazing. The lawn area provides tons of seating or playing space. They do have rules, so please be respectful and follow them. * There is ample parking on the side of the restaurant, inn, general store, and across the street. If weather permits, sit outside. On certain days and times, they have live music, and that makes this place even more enjoyable. But, if it's too cold, sit inside and maybe take a stroll of the grounds before or after your meal. Although they were short staff when I visited, our waiter was friendly and made sure to check on us frequently. I have a confession: We visited a cafe that we had not visited before. Since we can't be in this area too often, we like trying new things every time. Well, the other place's menu was not impressive for the price point, and we knew it wouldn't be a filling meal. So, we decided to head here instead. We knew we would enjoy a filling meal, and I have absolutely no regrets in our choice."
"If you are visiting Big Sur, you should absolutely stop here. We stopped here, bought a coffee and discovered the river banks behind the inn. There are a few sitting arrangements beside the river and also a few in the water. We sat on the one which is in the water. We saw 2-3 blue jays flying around. The whole ambiance was so serene that we didn't want to leave there. Highly recommend."
"Big Sur River Inn restaurant is a culinary masterpiece! The Tortilla Soup was a warm symphony of flavors, and the Prawn Tacos were a taste of paradise. The setting? Nothing short of breathtaking, surrounded by the scenic wonders of Big Sur. The service was flawless, adding a touch of perfection to our dramatic dining experience. In a nutshell, it's a culinary journey you won't soon forget. A must-visit for food, scenery, and service that's beyond extraordinary! However, the menu is a bit expensive here."
"I wish I could leave -10 star review. The host was super mean to the customer and was not helpful at all. Big Sur area doesn’t have signal at all for both ATT and Tmobile at the time I visited. I was looking for wifi so that I could let my mom know that I’m in the no signal area. I planned to spend a whole day there and my mom will freak out if she can’t reach out to me. I ordered the food and politely asked for the wifi. I didn’t come in to ask for the wifi. I meant to spend the money at the restaurant so that I could use the wifi. I then asked to cancel the order if it’s not too late. The host in black curl hair was super passively aggressive to tell me that if the food is already made, I still have to pay for it and it’s gonna be a waste of food. And she was so repetitive. I don’t have a problem with paying for the food I order and have it for to go. But the host made a good 3 minute lecture and I was shocked. And look like they got asked for the wifi pretty often, and the host already prepared the lecture for every single customer who ever ask for the wifi. But the waiter was super nice and friendly for the entire time. The restaurant doesn’t even want to do something to accommodate the need of their customers. Nicely done. Please don’t ever come here again. P/s: I’m on the passenger seat, looking at my to go box and thinking that the host will be a beast if I walk out without paying for the food."
