"EDIT: I would love the opportunity to expound on this. On vw Tdi’s like mine, vw uses foam on both the top engine cover and on the oil pan to keep the normally noisy diesel engine quiet. Vw uses foam because it is lightweight, sound absorbing, and resistant to heat up to 700* f in this application. Fortunately the oil, engine, and coolant on this and most engines are regulated to around 200*f. But wait what about the exhaust, you ask. Excellent point. The highly paid engineers at vw thought of that too! They use heat shields around the turbo and the after treatment system. But I don’t know why I’m telling you this. You saw all this when you had my car up in the air changing my oil. I know you did it this way because the part that was leaking was a one-time-use crush washer in the drain plug. I would have been happy to pay full price for this $3 washer. But here is the thing. You didn’t have to touch that if you did the oil change like vw recommends. Vw recommends using a vacuum oil extractor to do an oil change. They even put the oil filter right on top of the engine to drive that point home. If you do that there is no chance of making the noise-vibration-harshness reducers (nvh) look like a duck on a dawn dish soap commercial. This poor showing of forethought and follow through on a basic maintenance task is not a good look. I know how hard it is to be a mechanic and if it’s a new mechanic who did the service on my car then this is an amazing learning opportunity that doesn’t end up being expensive for you. But I fear this issue will not be addressed given the owners cavalier attitude he expressed on that free ride mentioned above. And boy howdy that’s another paragraph. Original Review: I had an oil change here and it was a fiasco. The oil change itself went terrible and they ended up not putting enough oil in the car and we had to come back the next day. Ok that sucks. New tech or something like that. But then 2k miles after the change my oil light came on again and the car smelt of burning oil. So I took it into the dealership and the oil cap was missing an o-ring, the single use drain plug wasn’t replaced and it was leaking oil all over the engine. And engine oil pan cover and damaged the foam insulation which is another $1k in work to do. I do not recommend this shop."
"These guys are top notch. We live in Kansas, and my daughter lives in California. Her car broke down and had to be towed in to these mechanics. They handled us with such kindness and professionalism. They were so honest about everything and repaired something that was a very difficult and high-end fix. My husband is a mechanic here in KS, so he is very knowledgeable in this area, and we would highly recommend FSR!"
"Starting off they kept my inspection on hold for extremely long, then when they gave me an appointment they cancelled it that same day due to some “inconveniences” eventually when I did take my car in, after weeks of waiting, they didn’t call me back for about 5 hours, I dropped my car off at 10pm and since I hadn’t received a call I decided to contact them, that’s when they gave me excuses because it turned out that my car still hadn’t been worked after all those hours due to another “inconvenience” they left me window down and they had my car in a different location. This shops is not organized and does not communicate with the customer, it’s a very unreliable shop to go to."
"I called this morning with an extremely minor car issue that I'm almost certain is being caused by a failed or faulty fuse. When I ask how much it might be for someone to look at and possibly replace it, I'm told they don't do that and that I'll have to pay $280 for a complete diagnostic. To which I reply, that is completely understandable if it turns out not to be the fuse but I'm pretty confident it's just the fuse so I'd really rather not waste time or money, if I don't have to. This is when she tells me she is not going to pull a mechanic off an actual job just to check a fuse when that may not even be the problem. It's at that very moment that I knew they'd just lost my patronage permanently, but I still had to ask, "so there's no way at all to get my car looked at without a full diagnostic?" To which she replied "No, sorry." It was a very confusing interaction to say the least. What a shame, over the last couple of years they'd become my go to shop."
"Was in a pinch as I had work out of town coming up. Vacuum pump for my brake system was obliterated and my regular mechanic failed to acquire a new one. So I found one and brought it to FSR auto repair and Lucas was kind enough to replace the part last minute as he sympathized with my situation. Not to mention accommodating me although the shop was approaching the end of listed business hours. He also shared some knowledge as he was showing me the old part that was definitely the issue."
