Artichoke Basille's Pizza

"A must-stop whenever I visit our job sites in Berkeley! The signature Artichoke is my favorite, but when I have a hearty appetite, the Meatball is a solid second. Great outdoor seating under the tree allows us to enjoy our slices with a cold beverage and watch the people. The guys behind the counter are great too!"

"This is a real NY slice place and one of the best pizza places in the whole Bay area. The margherita and sicilian vodka sauce slices are my favorites. They're obviously known for their artichoke slices but they have too much cream sauce for my taste and I miss the tomato sauce. I gave 5 stars for atmosphere even though there are no tables because it's set up like a real NY pizza place and it's so nice to sit outside anyway."

"I heard the hype about this place so my friends and I drove from SJ to Berkeley to try it. Gotta say, I'm not a fan. The cream on top of the pizza was quite soupy so it was falling everywhere. The pizza itself was very creamy which I didn't. I also couldn't taste much of the artichoke. The creaminess of the sauce overpowered the artichoke. Other people seem to like the pizza, but for me I'll pass."

"I believe this shop is originally from the East Coast. The shop opens late, has outdoor tables and on a balmy night, a great place to hang out. The slices are large and a single slice may be enough for many. The signature cheese artichoke pizza was creamy, gooey, drippy, delicious but a little “extra” and a tad salty for me. Old folks like me have to watch our salt intake. The pizza dough was rustically nice."

"I tried both the artichoke pizza and the pepperoni and the artichoke is the better one by far. If you want a great slice of pepperoni head over to Blondie's. But the artichoke takes the cake here. Slices are massive. I'm not sure if you can even order a whole pizza. Everyone was ordering multiple slices. There's some counter space outside where you can stand up and quickly eat your pizza. Definitely worth a try and worth coming back to."
