"I'm shocked and appalled at how my mother was sent home after full mouth extractions. All she was given was a small plastic bag containing a small amount of gauze and a piece of paper containing basic after care instructions. She was sent out of office with temporary dentures in her mouth pouring blood with no towels, no napkins, no gauze except for what was in the bag. She said the staff seemed to operate in a rush and the dentist seemed very rough doing the extractions. Her car is covered in blood. There's drops all over our sidewalk/floor. I'm aware the kind of work that was done calls for a large amount of blood but why was something not given to clean it up while she was in the process of getting home? Insane to me. I'm editing to add she was only given a numbing shot and the staff was aware she would be driving herself. Why would they allow her to drive herself bleeding like this with only 3 small pieces of gauze in a bag? Luckily we live close. But where is the concern for biohazard? What if she had to touch several doors to get to hers? This photo was taken at 3:18 in her car in the parking lot of affordable dentures after the procedure. Edit/update: 3/6/24 I received a message from my boyfriend a little after 3pm after I had arrived to work to inform me that my mom got a call from affordable dentures regarding my review. From what I gathered the phone call was just an attempt to cover their negligence from yesterday, but they did make sure to state that my review wasn't good for their business. I contemplated calling this location yesterday to get to the bottom of why she was sent out like this but by the time I got my mom calmed down and settled and myself back to work they were closed. By the time I kept thinking about how neglegent this was overall I decided that I was far too frustrated to rationally do a phone call with them, anyway. That frustration has now boiled over into today after discovering they called her regarding this review. Not much regarding her recovery or anything else, albeit they did ask if she was still bleeding (she's not - at least not like she was on her way home). I wasn't present for the appointment but am aware my mother can be stubborn and have a hard time advocating for herself. Once again, I'm aware the procedure calls for lots of blood. I have a coworker who had her top teeth removed at one of the affordable dentures in Knoxville, she did use more than a numbing shot so they required a driver to be present and sign a waiver. They also packed her with gauze prior to placing her temporary set in and releasing her. I'm aware everybody's situation and after care may vary. I left work and met my mom directly at our home after the procedure. The work was done, perhaps well - I mean they look good, but the care was absent. Her appointment was at 1 and she was out by 3:30. They close at 4. It truly seems to me like they were rushing their last patient out so they could clean up, close up and go home. She was sent to her car crying, blood pouring from her mouth and in obvious shock. The doctor offered to have us come in not even 24hrs post procedure to discuss her care but to me there's nothing to discuss as far as her care because yall didn't care until this review was left.. My mother is still going to have to go to this location for her permanent set so I'm not trying to complicate this for anybody seeing as how it's still an ongoing process, but once again was shocked & appalled by the lack of gauze/napkins/whatever. I'm even more shocked & appalled that this review produced a response from the staff yet the same staff couldn't take additional time to make sure my mother wasn't a walking biohazard."
"Staff was very nice and very explanatory on the process of my dental work I felt comfortable and at ease the whole time of my consultation and have already made an appointment to get the work started!"
"I have been very pleased with the services I have received at Affordable Dentures of Oak Ridge. They have been working very hard to get my dentures fine tuned. They have been very honest regarding what will and what won't work for me. I will miss Dr. Harris as he has moved back to Nashville, but I understand that he needs to be with his family especially his two young children. Dr. Harris saved me several thousands of dollars when he determined that implant assisted dentures were not the right solution for my dental problems. I am sure that whomever takes over the Oak Ridge Affordable Dentures will be as honest and helpful as Dr. Harris has been. I have not noticed any change in the level of service since Dr. Harris left, it has been a smooth transition."
"I just got my second pair of dentures. First pair was at their location in East Knoxville. They did great and made sure everything fits right, because i live with the dentures daily. But something about the lady who did my dentures at Oak Ridge really did not sit right. First of all, not a huge deal, but to set up the appointment, i had to talk to a third party. Not sure why i could not talk to the location itself. I got the number from the website. The website says same day for economy dentures. The lady on the phone could not tell me exactly the price or if i am charged for anything else at all. Since i have to pay that day, this is vital info. When i get there, they tell me it takes 2 weeks to make, so no big deal, i get my dentures 2 days after Christmas. The real issue is when i went back. The lady who did my dentures says 10 more minutes and they will be ready. Again, no big deal, even though i was 2 minutes early (this becomes relevant later). She gives them to me 10 minutes later and says try them on. I tell her it is jabbing into my gums in a few places. She acts like i am an inconvenience and recommends me where them a few days, then come back. I already took 2 days off work for what is supposed to be a same day denture package (mind you i went in 7:30am to be sure i got them same day). So i tell her i would much rather them be done today, thinking they probably need that protective coating anyways, and they were wildly uncomfortable. She gives in and goes back to fix them. Then she says they need to do some kind of outer coating impression (the chemical taste and smell part). She does one at a time. Comes back and says here you go, you will have to come back and do the other one. I ask where my other one is. It was sitting on the counter like she totally forgot about it and thought i already had it. I talk her into go ahead and finishing the other. She told me my appointment was only 30 minutes and i should come back, but i was early for the appointment, it only takes 10-15 minutes, there was only 1 other customers there, and i was trying to kindly ask to finish. Anyways, she does the second denture coating. Leaves a goop of that horrible chemical on the denture she already did. Ask she says here you go bye, i ask if the goop comes right off. She says oh i got it and scrapes it off with her finger nail. Then off i go. Now i am realizing the corner is jamming into my gums and it really hurts. The whole process was rushed and she really did not seem to care. She only acted as nice as she had to. Meanwhile she was explaining everything thoroughly to the other customer. I am going back to the older location for new dentures soon. Never going back to that one!!! They should definitely make sure everything fits right and treat every patient with care. I am not sure what i did or who i reminded her of to be treated like an animal. I was calm and respectful and kind of now wish i made a big deal out of it, but i prefer to not do such a thing. Oh, and she didn’t get all the goop off the first denture she did. Now it is coming off throughout the day and tastes horrible. Shouldn’t she have done both impressions at once? It just seemed like she wanted me to leave and tried to set it up for me to come back later. First dentures are cracking, so i needed these to be ASAP. It would have been nice if i was told i would not get them same day, so i would have gone to the East Knoxville location in the first place."
"The entire Experience was great! From the nice young lady at the front desk to the assistant that did X-rays and prep for Dr. Harris. Her name escapes me but she made the experience great with answering questions and explaining everything. Dr. Harris was great! I’ve never had dental work where there was no pain. Until now. Highly recommend"
