"The program was easy and quick to navigate through, Jim has been a great help thus far. Except I’ve been calling the office for a week now and keep getting sent to voicemail with no return calls. I completed the course and took the final exam, even submitted the final exam form and no return contact has been made. I’ll continue to update this review until I receive my certification or someone from the college makes contact with me."
"You're required to call the number which doesn't have the area code displayed (603) to start the course after you've paid. The preliminary quiz is full of incomplete questions. I took the course and scored a 92% 4 questions wrong, 2 can be interpreted the wrong way. And 2 that are just blatantly wrong and could get people injured. Fires are not classified by numbers they are classified by letters. And a foam extinguisher is not the correct extinguisher for a class d (combustible metal fire). Trying to get ahold of them is near impossible, they say leave a message and they'll get back to you, but the voice-mail is full so you cant. The issue is more than likely being understaffed. When you do get through the customer service is actually really good, they have stayed professional in that aspect keeping calm and doing their best to address your problems."
"I absolutely do not recommend! Very unprofessional. I booked an unarmed security guard training, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to follow through with the class due to the instructor being hospitalized- totally understandable. However, I think the assistant had called me telling me they would refund my money to me due to them not being able to hold the class and guaranteed my refund. A week or two later, the instructor himself had called me if I still want to continue the class because he’s back; I said not anymore because I booked anther class, so he told me I will get my refund within a week. Let’s just say it’s been over a month, alongside several calls plus voicemails to ask about my refund, but no response back. In addition, I drove to their location but it was a martial art place. It was giving “I was scammed”. They can keep the money, but just don’t book with them."
"Note: Security Guard College offers additional free training when reviewers leave a full 5 star rating therefore do not rely on the number of stars you see displayed for an accurate assessment of its performance. The site claims its testing is recognized by the State of Illinois as valid for the required 20 hours of Security Guard Training to be eligible to work for an employer in unarmed contract security. I suspect this claim is true and I will update this review if it is not. The testing is done entirely online (7 days per week and 24 hours per day ) but you must contact a person on the telephone before having access to the online test. Since the business is closed on weekends, you must be provided access to the online system during the weekdays. 50 questions are on the test and I found what I consider clearly wrong at least 4 answers that are accepted as being correct. You are given two attempts at taking the test and the highest score is accepted. I attained a 100% score by answering 4 to 6 questions in an incorrect way to get a correct answer score. The testing can be completed very quickly far below the “20 hours” mentioned in the certification title. I completed the testing within 12 hours with many breaks along the way. This sure beats the two days that I attended at a facility to which I had to drive to over an hour away from home in the past. This course cost me $70 whereas the other test was free from a security employer who would only release its 20 hour Certification Certificate once you were employed with them and the job they had offered me did not work out for I was not able to get my PERC card fast enough for them for the position they had offered me. I have been in contract security for over 15 years in Wisconsin and find the content of the course is marginal and it does not fully address some of the questions posed in the test. The Security Guard College offers free “Elite Security Guard Training” as I mentioned above, and I suspect it would be helpful to be able to list the various attendant certifications granted on your resume but I suspect the substance of the certifications may be lacking. I will update this review if I am not granted the free Elite Security Guard Training as well as if my 20 hour certification is not released to me due to this review. End of review. Update of review: 12/19/2023: As noted at the top of this my initial review, after I left my five star review rating, I asked for the free elite training as advertised for a five star review and I never received a response. . So no free elite training for me. I did check with the Illinois licensing department about the legitimacy of Security Guard College and they were not able to confirm it at the time of my call but the person with whom i spoke said he could inform his supervisor about my concern. I never heard back from anyone about that. The 20 Hour Security Training Certificate I received from Security Guard College appears professional and I suspect it will be legitimately accepted by a security agency. I have not yet presented it to an Illinois security agency although I informed some that I had the certification. I will provide an update if the certification should ever be invalid."
"My first review was 5 stars. Jim seemed very helpful and communicative in the beginning, he explained the course and told me if I gave it a 5 star review I would receive the elite training and certificate free, so I did. I read the online material over the course of a week, took the test and scored 50/50 for a perfect score. I contacted Jim and was told I would be receiving an email with my certification that day but that the elite certificate was no longer offered even though he just told me about it a week before when I purchased the course. 3 days later , having received no email I contacted Jim again and after 4 messages and a few days he called me back claiming not.to know who I was. I gave him all my information and he found my file even remarking that I got a perfect score on the test, he once again told me I would be receiving a email with my certification and to check my spam just incase. That was almost a month ago, I have left multiple messages and sent emails with no reply. In desperation I drove all the way to the address shown in Google but there is no office. I feel like I was scammed, they will take your money and ignore your calls. BEWARE"
