"One of my favorite local spots to get a breath of fresh air. Choose your own adventure because there are amazing views close to the parking, and on the longer haul. The paved path is good for a bike run or even skating, but watch out for a few hills and tight turns. Lots of wildlife, and lots of bugs during the typical buggy season."
"Really nice paved path with non paved paths within. Easy to navigate. Pet friendly"
"Great trail! Peaceful and relaxing. So many different birds were flying around too!"
"Love this beautiful place! The trails are great to walk or run! Some of the paths take you back into beautiful scenery where it feels like you aren't in Illinois anymore! Don't forget your camera too! Lots of great spots to capture photos. We hosted a kids event for our store in Plainfield and they loved exploring and doing a scavenger hunt! Great place to enjoy some quality outdoor time! Check if out!"
"I started exploring this forest preserve since the pandemic begun. Since then I come here at least 5x a week. I would have never gone here if the gyms didn’t close. This 839 acre forest preserve used to be a network of quarries which was filled with water. It is now a breeding location for wading birds, so half of the preserve is closed from March 1 to mid August. It is a beautiful place to jog, bike or walk in paved paths. There is an abundance of flora and fauna and breathtaking views if you are into photography. It has one clean restroom, three gazebos and about 4 benches if you need to rest. Sometimes I pack a lunch and enjoy the breeze and some music using my iphone earphones while I rest and hydrate. It is so peaceful and relaxing here, perfect place to have an alone time. Fishing is allowed year-round. People that work here and come here are friendly. I usually come alone and I feel safe here. I’ll keep coming until temperatures drop below 40, although I’m curious what this place looks like in winter."
