Herrin Water Department 300 North Park Avenue, Herrin, IL 62948

"NEW TO TOWN. I have had nothing but issues with the water department. To start off my experience I went into the water department to get our water turned on, I was not greeted very nicely.. 2/3 clerks there were very rude & the one that was nice seemed to annoy the other two. I let that go, had I known I was going to have nothing but issues for the next several months I would have had a different attitude. This is month #4 that we have lived in Herrin, 2/4 months we have not received a bill. The first month this happened I was unaware that water bills were due every month, we did not receive a bill so I assumed bills were due every other month. We were shut off with no warning, so I called the water department, paid my bill & got turned right back on.. all within 2 hours. Ok, that's fine. Now another month has gone by & I have not received another bill, so I checked online & my bill is due with a $50 reinstatement fee. I called to explain my situation & asked if the $50 could be removed since the water department is not sending my bills & it was a mistake. They said no, the council will not allow that. I'm VERY unhappy with this town already & I just moved here. I'm going to have to do my research on how things work around here. I am a tax payer so I expect better. I don't think this town is going to like me.. but here's your heads up!"

"My neighbors and I have been calling and calling about the people who own the house I live in. The neighbors called the water department because everytime I flush my toilet it goes into the back yard. They called the owners and they sent some to pump it. HELLO PEOPLE IT NEEDS A LID CAP OR WHATEVER GOES ON A WHITE PVC PIPE COMING OUT OF THE GROUND. Why would anyone think it’s just going to stop over flowing out of the pipe just because you pump it out because you think it’s clogged. No it’s coming out every time either way. So I call the water department myself this time so all my neighbors don’t have to because the owners won’t do anything until the city contacts them. Awesome people right ? So I’m calling leaving voicemails ect no answer, nothing. I like how my neighbors can call an complain about the smell but when I do it doesn’t matter right ? Guess I’ll have them call for me again. Goodness"

"Had an issue with water running excessively in my yard, my wife and myself were at work but the water department was able to get ahold of me and informed me of the situation, they sent over some workers who were very courteous. In dealing with them in the office they have always been polite and helpful."

"My waters off I'm thirsty my dogs thirsty. They took my money and said it would be on but here I am no water.Work all day payed the bill and still denied a basic human necessity. I hope these people get the chance to drink out of a puddle."
