Reviews
"Entrance through Garner State Park. Day passes available online. Be sure to book online reservation, the Gaye will turn you away of park os full. Hike has several entrances, some are very steep and challenging. Careful if it's drizzling or raining, wear good griping shoes, and gloves - folks were slipping, falling and getting hurt from slippery limestone and mud. Hike worth it, view beautiful, especially in the late autumn with the changing leaves along the river."
"Not easy to get up to the summit but the rewards are spectacular views. At the summit is a huge pile of limestone rocks. Climbing to the top of the pile of is dangerous because most of the rocks are loose. Once at the top the views are amazing especially when looking towards the Frio River. Before attempting this climb make sure you are physically fit because the hike up is equivalent to about going up 30 floors. Make sure you are hydrated and have proper hiking shoes. Take breaks as needed and watch your steps on the rock steps because they are slippery. Use plenty of caution going both up and down."
"Short moderate climb , spectacular blooming of cactus flowers, and no crowd on Memorial weekend. Beautiful view of Frio River from the top! A trail worth going back time after time!"
"Exciting short, trails, that are unique to each area. Some are challenging, some are steep, some are a nice trail walk. There are patches where the game trails cross and can confuse you to miss a turn or something. Not a big deal, just loom for the paint markings. Was $8 a person to enter for entire day. We hiked around 6 miles and did crystal cave, old baldy, foshee, bird trail, rim trail. Will happily come again and will be sure to hit every single trail next time!"
