"One of the centerpiece attractions of Peoria and certainly of Peoria Heights. It is 2.5 miles worth of road that was built in 1903. Teddy Roosevelt once drove along it and remarked that it was "The World's Most Beautiful Drive" a phrase the acronym of which serves as the call letters for the local CBS affiliate. It is walked and driven by residents year-round often snagging portraits against the view. At the north end of the drive, you'll find the Pimiteoui Trailhead and Tower Park and at the southern end, Grandview Drive Park. Along it you'll find three pull-off lookouts as well as a country club and the unique and spacious dwellings of the wealthy."
"We were part of a group that walked West in Devil's creek about 15 minutes. There we saw some small "Caves" that we could sit in It was a fun trip/walk."
"Deemed the most beautiful drive in the world by president Roosevelt for a good reason"
"Grandview drive is just what it's called. If you've never been it runs from prospect road in Peoria Heights to state route 29 by the Illinois river. Winding well maintained road with beautiful river valley views on one side and magnificent houses on the other. Plenty of places to turn off and take in the view or snap some pics of your favorite gal. The drive has quite a history, give it a search and find out how, why and when they made this drive and the surrounding parks. President Roosevelt called it the world's most beautiful drive and WMBD radio and TV picked this up as their call sign, pretty cool. Pictured is the WWI monument."
"Beautiful views and safe sidewalks to run on. I saw a trail that sort of follow the roadway from below but didn’t have the right shoes to go run off-road. I recommend and will return."
