"I have been to many of the locks on the Mississippi River from up north all the way down past St. Louis. This is one of my favorite locations. Well kept facility and manicured lawn. I love this location because the employees interact with you while they are walking on the other side of the fence and will answer questions if you have one that can’t be answered on one of many information boards."

"Interesting area with amazing views of Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. A lot of history and we were fortunate to see a 15-barge de-locking. It can take 90 to 120 minutes for a ship like that to lock down. Must take a long time to travel from here to New Orleans."

"Stopped here while visiting to see if any ships were going through. Unfortunately, none were at the time. There was a large tug boat in the lock which was cool for my son to see. We also liked seeing the river closer than we had to this point. There was a lot of different birds flying around the river and the cliffs behind us."
