"These guys are great! I always take my dog here, and she loves it. You know she loves to be here because if we're on a walk - she does everything she can to all but drag us in. Their hours are also extremely helpful for working professionals who need to battle Chicago traffic. Further their staff is kind and professional - some of my dogs favorite people. "My pup has the best time here. We’ve ran into a few workers outside of daycare and he is always SO excited to see them. Really great team and always confident in their ability to take care of my guy."
"I spent hours researching places to board our pup in Chicago, and Citizen Canine seemed to come highly reviewed and reputable. I was so excited to bring him in for his temperament test on Sunday, and had absolutely zero concern about him- he's extremely gentle, loves to play, and has never had an issue with other people or dogs. He goes to the dog park every single day and is well socialized, and he has attended daycare and been boarded on many occasions with only positive remarks. We received a call about 2 hours into his test that we needed to come pick him up because he had failed. We asked in detail what happened, and were essentially told by the employee that nothing really happened, our dog just wanted to play and was high energy, but the other dogs didn't want to play with him and he wasn't picking up on "social cues" so he had failed. We asked if our dog showed any signs of aggression and he said no, but they were worried the other dogs would show aggression towards him, so ours wasn't allowed back. Basically, if your dog has a personality or the slightest bit of energy, don't bring them here- they "value their longstanding customers and have to be extremely selective of who they allow in". So if a dog becomes reactive towards a new dog, but they're a longstanding customer, it's the new dog's problem. I had a variety of red flags from the moment we walked in with him (i.e. dog shut in a closet barking hysterically), so to be honest, I'm a little bit relieved that it didn't work out."
"I've used the daycare, boarding, and grooming services at Citizen Canine and I feel so comfortable leaving my pup in their hands! She is truly excited to run in the doors every morning. Jolie is so great and you can tell the staff really cares about the pups. Great price compared to other daycare services in the city as well. Nova says thank you!"
"I don't often write reviews unless I'm either incredibly impressed or really disappointed. I felt like I had to post something after my dog's grooming experience. Our regular groomer was booked for the next two weeks, so I took our Wheaton Terrier to Citizen Canine for the first time. We asked to have her trimmed with a more rounded 'puppy cut' rather than the more traditional Wheaton Terrier box cut. The results weren't good. The groomer shaved her snout (including her whiskers!), the majority of her coat is uneven, and for some reason, she's been limping since we brought her home yesterday afternoon. There are two photos attached to show what our dog normally looks like and the results from this job.The other odd thing is that there was a problem with the bathtub, so the process took 6 hours instead of 2.5 hours. Perhaps CC does a wonderful job grooming other breeds, but I wouldn't recommend them for Wheaton Terriers. We won't be back."
