"Years ago when I was only 17, I took a class with Boogie McClarin that really harmed my self esteem and desire to continue dancing. Very harsh and discouraging woman. Their hip-hop beginner class was not really beginners, but filled with their long time students from other classes. I myself had been dancing on and off since I was 3 at many different studios, but it was a first class for me at Joel Hall. Thankfully, I have moved on in life from dance and am now working as an attorney. Of course, I still dance for fun. I took a few other classes here very briefly and while the other teachers weren't as aggressive as Boogie in their insults, it still was not a good experience. I hope my review can help others who may feel discouraged! Keep following your dreams and maybe along the way, you can find another path too. Keep an open mind!"
"I love all the classes at Joel Hall Dancers and Center. I take them regularly. I've done virtual and in-person; both are great experiences, and the instructors are so knowledgeable and will help you push your limits and reach your dancing goals. Highly recommend!"
"I love JHDC! They have an amazing program that trains professional dancers and are also very welcoming of dancers of different levels and accept dancers with all body types. The atmosphere in this studio is very positive - everyone is supportive, kind and makes you feel like you are a part of the family. They definitely make you WORK, and follow your progress closely, so no slacking off here! :) I was a part of the JHDC dancer training scholarship program and loved it, so I will definitely be back for more!"
"I've been a regular at the Sunday hip hop class for over a year and it's my favorite part of the weekend! All levels are welcome and it's a challenging yet creative and fun environment! David always shares his positivity and energy graciously! Also, the annual MJ Thriller flash mob is a great time for Halloween!"
"It's an unassuming space, but the classes are so much fun. I am not a dancer, but a friend convinced me to come to hip hop classes with him. I enjoyed it so much I kept going for months! The space could definitely use some upgrades, but I get that money doesn't grow on trees for dance companies. The instructors are amazing, and I loved how warm and accepting the ones I have worked with have been with novices. I highly recommend taking a class here if you enjoy any style of dance."
