"I have a toilet in a powder room with wood floor. I am the original owner of my home, which was constructed 5 years ago. About a year ago the toilet in the powder room failed -- water was leaking from the bottom and damaged my wooden floor. I immediately called a plumber to have it fixed (replace the wax ring), only to have it fail again a year later! This second time around (now) the water leak was small and I did not notice it right away, not until I saw the wood start to swell and what looked like mold start to form. I knew I needed not only the toilet fixed (again!) but I also needed the floor repaired. Plus, given the leak hadn't been noticed right away, I was afraid for what damage might have been done to the subfloor. So now I needed the floor repaired and the toilet repaired. I looked and asked for quotes from multiple places. So many came back with blanket "bids" or assured me it would be "in and out". Just didn't sound like they were interested in doing the job *right*. However, then I reached out to Good Work Construction and I got a very reasonable quote and honest assessment of the situation. I decided to go with Good Work Construction. Tyler came out to my house to assess the damage. All things considered, the damage wasn't too bad and was very centralized, and thankfully the subfloor was fine. Tyler was very meticulous in his approach, doing things in a very methodical way and assessing as he went. Doing so really minimized the footprint of flooring that needed to be replaced. Beneath the damaged wood Tyler found it to be a bit wet and recommended we wait a day or two to let it dry. I really appreciated this because any other person might have done the repair to simply get it done and call it a day, but Tyler helped set up fans to get things dry. He came back another two days, because it just wasn't dry enough. He spent extra hours at our house to ensure the repair was done to last. He disinfected and sealed the subfloor, and upgraded various toilet parts to maintain the longevity of the toilet repair. He took great care in replacing the floor, cutting fresh wood with some spare wood we had in storage. It is a very seamless repair and I am super happy with it! He also explained how he was doing the repair and why its important to repair certain things in a certain way, and also educated us on a shortcut that he's seen in the industry, so it isn't uncommon, but was unfortunately the thing that made our toilet fail multiple times. I am so glad that it was finally done correctly! I highly, highly recommend Good Work Construction. Such honest folks. They are my new go-to handyman service. It is so difficult to find someone who is good at multiple skilled trades, and Good Work Construction really has them!"
