"I am a former mystery shopper who has only done one assignment for Hendrickson Business Advisors; however, I do not recommend working for this company due to the excessive amount of questions on their after-church attendance forms. 60+ plus questions; so many of them were redundant and each question had several sub-questions. I wrote and I wrote, yet none of my answers were ever good enough and after 8+ hours of writing and several rejections, I finally snapped and threatened to file a complaint with the attorney general's office. I eventually was paid, but it was by far, the worst mystery shopping report that I have ever encountered. While I do not have a degree in English, I still have a college degree with plenty of business and technical writing. I also have a book for sale on Amazon, so it is not like I do not know how to write. I am also fully aware of the old game played by mystery shopping companies; never being satisfied with a report in hopes the shopper will walk away in frustration. The company gets their report and they get to keep their money. This simple strategy is perfectly legal and is done all the time. I worked all day for a paltry 45 dollars. Talk about feeling cheated. Once I realized the game that was being played by HBA, I was simply going to struggle through the report, get it submitted and never accept another assignment from HBA, but once I realized that my report was never going to be good enough, no matter what; it was only then, that I lost my temper. Not only was my report being continually rejected, but even more questions were being asked. It is one thing to ask a question for clarification, but to keep asking general, open-ended questions is not appropriate, especially on an after-shop report where specific details are everything. I'm pretty sure that my age was listed somewhere on the form, but even if it wasn't, I think I made it clear that I was a semi-retired business person. Like a lot of old folks, if I can use my administrative and writing skills to make a few dollars in order to supplement my income, why not? If HBA was interested in the nursery, why not send a young mother with kids instead of a single old man? In this day and age, what do you think is going to happen if a strange man, who has never been to a particular church before, shows up one day and is asking a bunch very detailed questions about the nursery? So many of HBA's questions on their after-shop reports were thoughtless and pointless. This is another mystery shopping company that is not respectful of their shopper’s time. So many mystery shopping jobs go unfilled for that reason; eventually, all the mystery shoppers in that particular area have grown wise to the excessive amount of writing that is required on a certain company's after-shop form and will politely, but firmly refuse any future assignments. Adding additional questions that were not on the original after-shop form is another game that is played among mystery shopping companies already notorious for having excessive questions because they know that no mystery shopper in his right mind would accept so many questions on an after-shop form for so little pay, so mystery shopping companies are forced to employ deceitful methods. It really makes me wonder if anyone even looks at this stuff. If a company is paying good money to be secretly shopped, considerable thought should be given to the relevancy of the questions and that some misguided employee isn't quietly doing irreparable harm to their business operations. If your report reviewer is V. P., good luck!"
