"Appointment at1:25 and checked in at 3pm"
"I honestly don't really want to give it TWO stars... Called the office and before any human answered, I was put on hold and waited for 8 mins before someone actually picked up the phone. Lo and behold, it was an answering service. ugh! I knew if I told this person what was wrong, I'd have to repeat it to the next person anyway. So I explained and she said she'd put me through to the office immediately where I sat on hold for ANOTHER 8 minutes before someone picked up (a 'scheduling' person, which is yet ANOTHER answering service) and, like predicted, I had to tell HER what was wrong too. After my explanation, she asked me my name and DOB so she can pull of my records and she couldn't find me in the system (I have been to Dr. Poronsky's office several times). SHE put me on hold where I waited another 4 minutes before my call was disconnected! Can anyone recommend a family practice in the area who actually believes in the human touch and doesn't consider you to be simply a dollar sign?? I took the picture of how long I waited on hold the SECOND time around...before a human answered and we were actually disconnected a few mins later. PS - The same thing happened to my husband, Joe Rolewicz. He's been going there for years (actually referred ME to them) and the office claims they have no records of him. It's a damn good thing we don't NEED our records for anything in particular. I say go to a family practice who: 1) doesn't rely on several answering services to assist you, and 2) is ORGANIZED..."
"Very sad when money becomes the issue over well being...YES, I am guilty of being behind on my bill, I owed 180.00, I have been a patient there for years, and I apologized for being behind. Every one has hard times, sometimes can't be helped. but again apparently money is more important than health. I am paid in full, but I guess that did not matter..I lost my insurance, my job does not offer it, i'm working on it. I paid my bill, then requested my blood pressure medicine from the pharmacy, they called me back and told me Dr. Poronsky's office said I was no longer their patient.I called the office, and she said that is correct, I told her I paid the bill, she confirmed it was paid, but still said I was no longer a patient of theirs, and then when I explained I was out of my medicine, and my BP was way high and asked if I could just get enough blood pressure medicine, just to see me through until I can find another physician I was refused, way to go caring about people!!! So in my opinion, if you do not have good insurance, or if you are not a perfect paying patient, I WOULD NOT GO THERE!! Find an office that actually has some compassion, Again, I apologized for being late, as soon as I received my tax return, I paid..they claimed they sent me a letter, but I never received it. Guess my life is worth less than 180.00....."
"I love all the doctors and NP at Poronsky. I never feel rushed or made to feel foolish for asking a question. They can usually get you seen by someone within a day or two. The front staff is very friendly."
"First off I was highly recommended to Dr. Poronsky by my OBGYN at Palos. I made an appt and was told Dec was the only time I could get in. Well, my health can be treated til then so I scheduled with nurse practitioner last werk. Due to my colonoscopy and being sick during my appt I could not cancel my appt. Now, Kathy the receptionist at the doctors ofc says I cant reschedule due to office policy and was very rude she hung up on me. I was never told that would happen. After reading the policy, it does not specify this scenario. I encourage you to go elsewhere. No doctor office has appt 3 or 4 months later other than specialist. I get your policy is unfair and your staff should be clear and be trained to be friendly especially to new clients. Too bad I never had the opportunity to become a patient of this practice."
