"Only good police department I’ve interacted with. Thanks for jumping my car and not being violent when you crash parties"
"Someone stole my fiance's identity, opened up accounts using their name, and stole hundreds of dollars from her, if not more. The bank informed us to contact our local police department to file an identity theft report, when we tried, they informed us to seek assistance from the UMSL police department since we live on campus and only they can file a report for our area. The officer detailed that a crime did take place that fell under fraud and identity theft and that the UMSL police department is designed to help students in situations like this. The officer seemed acknowledged enough so we took his advice and headed to the UMSL police department. When we arrived we were given the typical, "Identity theft happens all the time, hell, it's happened to me!" story. Honestly, I understand it is a common occurrence, the fact of the matter is, it's happening to us right now and we are TERRIFIED. This man or woman out there has my fiance's identification, opened several cards in her name, and is somewhere walking free stealing people's identities! It's not like we come from money either, we are broke college students. The UMSL police department then had the audacity to claim that even if they wrote a "fancy report" it would only get lodged in the crevice of a filing cabinet. They also took the time to explain that what was happening to us, our hard earned money being taken away illegally, was not a crime! I had to dispute this one out because of the preposterous notion made by a POLICE OFFICER of all upright individuals. Then after disputing what the previous police officer informed us down town, they told us it's the banks job to deal with fraudulent crime. I never thought a respected police officer would claim such a stance. I was completely dumbfounded. They were not helpful in the slightest. I understand that the criminal was stealing our money and identity from another state and that that is out of their jurisdiction but we live in their jurisdiction. The least they could of done was call the police department in the city and state we gave them of the criminal. To sum it up, they seem friendly but are unwilling to help when you really need them the most. They will leave you scared and unknowing of what to do next."
"It locates near the metro station"
"Most are helpful. But some, when you need assistance, will laugh in your face and say it's not their job to help students."
"Very friendly every time I've visited to get a parking pass. I'm not a student, however."
