"This school has plenty of mice, is not technologically advanced and does not offer many AP courses, BUT as long as you stay out of trouble, you will do fine! Sure, this school gets on the news at least once a year, but it honestly is not that bad. I am Proviso West's first Golden Apple Scholar, and I can truthfully say that I would not have gotten it without the help of some of my teachers. My advice is to enroll in all of the Honors and AP courses that are available."
"This school might get a bad rap and I was concerned when my daughter started class there but in the end it paid off. Proviso W is what the student and parent make of it. My daughter was able to take honor and advance classes that prepared her better for college that what she learned on her last year of HS in California. She never had an issue with any other students and made a lot of good friends that she still keep in touch. I dealt with school staff on various times and they always were professional and willing to help. Im very proud of what my daughter was able to accomplish there and she was accepted to a good college on a good program, thanks Proviso W!!"
"I attended this prison for 2 years (2015-16 & 2016-17)... To sum it up: -this prison barely offers any classes & has very low test scores. -ghetto/rude prisoners. -prisoners use drugs in class & in the bathrooms (one guy in class used a blunt right next to me and didn't get in trouble even though the teacher said he smelled it from the other side of the room). -mice/bug problem. -staff/faculty curse at the prisoners, I mean students. -very little resources available when a prisoner wants to stand out above the rest (basically a huge limit on education). -classes teach material that most kids should learn in middle school. -pregnant girls in every grade. -pornography filmed in some of the rooms (I wish I was kidding). Overall rating: 0/10 would not recommend."
"I am a freshman student here and this school is GARBAGE the school has no air conditioning can't pay the light bill in one week we had the lights shut off 3 times many of the teachers don't know how to teach the security guards curse at students for being in the hall and you will not find a bathroom in this school that doesn't smell like Marijuana also. 25% of females in this school this school have herpes and that's every 1 out of 4 female so over all I do not recommend this school Shout out to Ms clay Mr mc nally and Mr Henderson"
"I attended in 07 and it was a really bad experience to many gangs, drugs are everywhere. A young student tried to sell me crack...no joke i was in shock. Alot of students dont respect the teachers. I saw a student push a teacher then the student punched a window and broke it and walked out of class. I am from California and been to 3 high schools prior to this one and fist time in Illinois love this state ,but not this school at all. i was not expecting this for my senior year but i had no choice but to attend."
