"This school was a 9 on Great Schools website 6 years ago. Hence, I had no issues moving to such a small school. Test scores far exceeded state average. In that time the Superintendent has left and the school can not retain quality teachers or a Superintendent. There is no technology lab, so no computer classes. There are no AP classes. There are no STEM classes. The math teacher feels that math is a group work subject. So students that don't understand it get left far behind. My daughter who is an A-B student scored an 880 on PSAT sophmore year. That alone tells me that she's testing well below average. Last semester she got perfect honors. So obviously there is conflicting data regarding what she should actually be learning. Bullying is so out of control that I've basically given up contacting the school. The only real thing this school cares about is it's sports programs. Please, DON'T SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!!!!"
"Administration is so awful it brings down the quality of the teachers and what the district was and could be. Ten years ago it was much better. Now I couldn't recommend this school to anyone. In fact I know of three families that have pulled their children to home school or to other schools just so they don't have to deal with the administration in the last year. Prime example of what happens with poor leadership. Check other reviews."
"Why do all the kids juul in the middle of the hallway? Why is there a cop here for only half the day? The last time I learned something in this school was in 3rd grade. The Bullying problem is blown out of proportion by the students. The only time people are getting bullied is during Middle School. The only people saying they're getting bullied in high school are the annoying kids. The lunches are trash you'll be better off eating dirt. The bathrooms are disgusting. Boys bathrooms are always gross but how the f are girls bathrooms going to have pee on the floor also? The Hawk Pride system is completely corrupt. People don't put in Hawk Pride cards but they still win."
"Teachers, supporting staff and administration are all wonderful. They are there for the kids, and put in 110%! All my children are doing amazing because of Hiawatha. For such a small school, and district, they are doing a ton more to help each child based on their individual needs than I have seen from some huge districts with much more tax revenue."
"This is an awesome school with great quality but very high tolerance for bullying"
