"I was employed as the Saftey Manager and worked here for 5 years or so. The working conditions and environment at Sunset can be described in one word: toxic. Women who work there constantly complained about how they were treated, ignored, and were not part of the team. Every driver contended with vehicles breaking down almost daily in many cases. This is because the owner operates maintenance practices on a shoe string. Very little is invested in overhead. Driver turn over is very high. I interviewed 801 people, primarily drivers. I hired 108, and I lost 111 drivers. 14 Managers were hired and fired while I was there representing 6 offices. The owner lies, manipulates, and will bulldoze. He is incredibly unsupportive of drivers and manipulates to maintain a relationship with the union. He owed 2.4 million to Teamsters 150 and used Covid relief funds to resolve that bill while decreasing wages by minimum 20%. Look. If you are seeking a management or office job there, you will most likely be fired for no cause within 6 months, statistically. I didn’t get fired in case that’s what you are thinking. I survived by being careful. I retired. The owner has some very serious issues and acts and performs in a bi-polar way, never providing a sense of direction, but acts in a brutal manner. Working here is a huge mistake. If you do, do what I did. Always remember to never allow the abuse to have in impact on your personal well being, and have a backup plan. Do a contract for hire with a severance pay strategy, but even still, be aware that he will go after that. Protect yourself. Good luck It will not take long before you see the dynamic of the environment there. You are going to be surprised at the lack of integrity, the dishonesty with the relationship between management, customers and employees. Greed, corruption, coercion is the name of the game. You need to play it well with the intention of surviving, if you plan longevity. Other than that, find a far better working environment with a real company."
"Evertime I see these trucks on the road it seems that garbage or debris comes out of their trucks literally every truck. Seems like their job is to litter the highway."
"THE MOST DANGEROUS DRIVERS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!! Today I was passed by truck # 01464 on a single lane highway on Rte 20 just before Garden Prairie. If I had not slowed down, he would’ve hit a car in oncoming traffic head on. All because I was doing the speed limit at 55mph."
"I have the displeasure of driving Rt 14 to Rt 176 all the way to Belvedere Does this company have an active safety program? Obviously not with the way the drivers drive! Don't bother calling into company Call Police hopefully they can do something proactive to get these drivers to obey traffic laws!"
"Today on 62 going west bound from 53/290 driver was eraticly driving. After exiting onto 62 westbound driver (Truck # 501) procceeded to weave in and out of lanes. Almost like he was drag racing at every light. Just past RT25 almost slamming into me changing lanes. Please hire professional drivers for everyones safety on the road."
