"Would give zero stars if possible. She sat with me for 5 minutes, diagnosed me with a condition I know for a fact I do not have, then told me to take mood stabilizers as a diagnostic tool to rule out the diagnosis. After telling her multiple times I did not want to take medications I don't believe I need, she told me that "they will help you", even though she said they were being used as a diagnostic tool. My partner was also with me during the appointment. Whenever he would ask for clarifying information, such as "how did you come to the diagnosis of x", she said "I wrote it down." When she told me the meds she was pushing "will help (me)", he told her that saying they "will help" was a bit disingenuous, she literally laughed at him. Then she asked me if I had signed a form that stated he "had to be with me", and I told her no, she asked him to leave the room. He is my advocate and she made him leave. After about ten minutes of scrutinized questions about the nature of our relationship, she allowed him to come back in. After refusing medication 5 times, I finally had to relent and let her prescribe the meds but I had no intention of filling them. She put her "official" diagnosis in my chart, which I had to have removed by my PCP. When my partner and I later contacted the group office she was in, we were told our concerns would be investigated and we would hear back in “a few weeks". After a full month went by, I called the office again to speak with Tina, who I believe was the office manager. (I may be mistaken on that point.) After she finally got back with us, her response was basically, you should come back in and see the provider again and work with her to find a resolution and that it's fine if my partner wants to be there but it's generally not good for patients to have family with them during appointments. This was unacceptable, so we called and spoke with Tina directly. She had few answers to our questions and absolutely no indication that what had transpired during that appointment was in any way concerning to their office. We again asked for a better answer than to just come back and see what happens. After a second request for clarity and understanding of why medicines such as mood stabilizers are used as diagnostic tools, we received the following response: Please see Dr. Frenkel's response below: I do not find the request and the nature of the questions appropriate. As we discussed already, pt needs to come in to see her provider by herself to discuss and assess her condition. Thanks Tina Dr. Frenkels reply was just plain rude and unhelpful. Only use this provider or their office if you want to be misdiagnosed and fed pills you don't need. Oh and don't bring an advocate. That really messes with their ability to abuse and misdiagnose you. Cheers."
"Under Frenkel’s direct care, I have 10 years of history with 20+ different combinations of medications that changed every 3-12 months. Frenkel prescribed a new pill every visit to try and “fix” me. He seemed to rarely listen to me, the patient. Instead, he would talk to my dad (his colleague) without me present and proceed to treat me according to what my parents said. Frenkel labeled me with many mental health diagnoses without telling me and I am only finding out about this long list now that I am with a new psychiatrist. He secretly had Martin Hanson (Antioch Group) diagnose me for my parents (he was their counselor) with “borderline personality disorder” despite the fact I had never spoken to or met Marty. Frenkel then proceeded to change all my medications in order to make me look more “bipolar” so I “could get accepted into DBT inpatient program to see if that would finally work”. Frenkel refused to assess me for ADHD 7 years ago when I initially asked. He stated “you clearly don’t know what ADHD is because there’s no way. I would know if you had it”. Frenkel only completed formal testing after my fiancé intervened this past year. Frenkel finally admitted that I indeed have ADHD due to my test scores. He again, threw more pills at me and refused to remove any of the mental health dx when I asked. Since then, he’s canceled 4 appointments and now, his office has stopped responding to me. He incorrectly diagnosed me for years, and spent close to a decade refusing to acknowledge my ADHD symptoms despite me communicating them from day 1."
"Dr.Frenkel is a wonderful and caring man..have been seeing him for close to 12 years at least..always concerned about any issues I have..a great listener..Very kind and compassionate disposition..always puts me at ease..very grateful to have him as my physician."
"Worked with Dr. Frenkel for a couple years and got nowhere with him. He’s too busy with other patients. If you need a doctor who will take time to listen to you and believe you search elsewhere"
