Main problem I had was not with the provider but the facility. The rigidness of scheduling a pick-up/drop-off for getting the Sleep study ring for at-home testing was frustrating. "I just took down my initial, very negative review of Sleep Medicine Consultants (SMC). They have since made amends. I received a call from the supervising physician, Dr. Desai, and had an online appointment with my nurse practitioner, Monique Mulvany. Monique is wonderful but embedded in a system that puts up a barrier between her and her patients. I finally got a CPAP mask, from a technician at the medical supply house, that fit and I’m now doing well. SMC is setting up a “STEP Program”which is supposed to monitor data from your machine, then reach out to you if problems are observed. I am waiting to hear back from them and enroll. So, the biggest problem has been an impregnable barrier between the patient and a clinician familiar with their case. You can only reach the clinic telephone operators during regular working hours. (These are women in the trenches at the front who absorb all the flack from frustrated patients.). If you don’t get through you must leave a VM message and may or may not get a timely, helpful response. I hope the STEP Program will resolve this problem."
