"I was taken by ambulance to the Memorial Hermann Hospital ER almost 2 weeks ago. The paramedics were great with helping me with my medical emergency -- which included dehydration. My symptoms included weakness and dizziness. For the most part, the ER staff was helpful. I must note that I was hooked up to an IV and they had a lot of fluids going into my body -- which had me having to go pee every 15 minutes. The problem is, I was really weak and had blurred vision, among other things. So, I needed help getting to the restroom. I couldn't walk. First I want to give a BIG THANKS to the ER staff who were understanding and helpful to me. Those staff got a wheelchair, helped me in the wheelchair and rolled me to the toilet. Unfortunately -- and I wish I would've gotten her name -- one of the staff was rude to me and made it clear she did not want to help me. I'm still trying to figure out why she was the only one who didn't think to get me a wheelchair. I honestly think she didn't care anything about how I was feeling. The only thing I remember about her, is she was young and had what looked like two braids on the side of her head. And it's because of her, I will more than likely not go back to this ER again if I need help. But, my hope is I will never need to go to another ER in the future. This is what happened. I told her I needed to go to the restroom. From the start she was uncompassionate and just looked at me and said, " Go ahead and go." I told her I needed help because I couldn't stand on my feet and I was really weak. She then had the nerve to tell me in a dull way, "Well, I can't pick you up." This made me so upset that she would talk to someone like this who is in a vulnerable state. I still wonder if my husband was already there (still checking in in the ER and signing papers), if she would've treated me this way. Anyway, I then told her if she can't do it, she needs to go get someone else. Then she put her arm out, so I could hold on to it. Then she didn't say another word to me. I must add that there was another lady -- appeared to be older and maybe had glasses -- who saw how off balance I was. I heard her yell out, "Wait! What is going on. Ma'am you need to stand up and walk." Really!! Why are these two women working in the ER! The ONLY thing I appreciated from this 2nd lady is that she assisted taking me to the restroom. I ended up getting admitted to the hospital and fortunately the staff who helped me in my room were all really nice and compassionate. It's unfortunate that despite the staff who were there for me, those two staff members are weighing on my experience in the ER. I can't stop thinking about how disappointed and upset I get when I think about those "two women" who work in the ER and the way they treated me, when I needed help the most."
"First I have to start way back in April when I was not able to pass stool for 17 days total. After 7 of those days I first went to St. Luke's. Horrible experience they did nothing, literally, the nurse took my symptoms down, Dr came in put down stethoscope, didn't talk to me, just said I'm constipated and to go home. I knew that was not the problem but she did not want to treat me I had to beg just to get blood and urine work done. They found "nothing wrong". Now fast forward to 3 weeks ago. I went to the ER here with a strangulated hernia. They seen me right away and got me in a room and everything very quickly. Now first they intubated me with a long tube down my nose going into my stomach which was definitely the worst part of this whole experience mostly because they never even used it! But I won't hold it against them. After getting into my second room and prepped for surgery they saw right away from urine and blood work that I had gallstones and took me for more tests for those which sure enough I had several huge stones blocking my bowels. Back to the beginning of my review you can see these doctors here were very thoroughly and wanted to get me completely taken care of asap unlike that other hospital! I was here for 4 days. My hubby and I were treated like Royalty by Every Single Person we encountered here! Words cannot express how wonderful this whole terrifying ordeal was!"
"I’ve spent way more time here over the last week than I’ve ever spent at a hospital as a visitor. Inside the emergency room waiting area, it’s clean, quiet (at least momentarily), and organized. The staff was kind and obliging when I entered, frantic and upset. I was told which room, but got lost because it’s kind of like a maze. But all I took was the confusion on my face and a nurse to notice, and I was pointed in the right direction. This became a regular routine in the days following. The emergency room itself was a little bit dated, but what do you expect when it’s only temporary to stabilize your loved one? Every single ember of the staff was fantastic, attentive, kind, and incredibly patient during a situation that was not very pleasant for anyone. They have a complimentary fountain drink/coffee/hot tea bar which was a savior. Vending is also available. The flowers and balloons that I later had delivered were cared for beautifully by the nurses as well. Overall A++"
"I had my first baby here in May. Who can say they had amazing time birthing a child? Me. From pregnancy through delivery we were truly blessed with exceptional nurses and my lovely doctor. The nurses hugged on me, explained everything patiently, and just treated us like friends and family. The anesthesiologist made sure I was comfortable and calm. My Dr. was just excellent, simply put! As a black woman, maternal mortality is a concern, but we felt we were in great hands. My baby boy was delivered happy, healthy and thriving!"
"This is a nice hospital. Very clean (even with all of the construction going on). For entertainment, there is a piano that plays itself. The cafeteria had a variety of reasonably priced food options. I had the pizza, which I was able to build. It was very fresh and the customer service was great."
