Reviews
"Once you get a visit, Dr. Joseph Montes is wonderful. However, this review is directed towards the clinical staff. The management is not there, the phone is never answered, and paperwork seems to always disappear. I am not happy with the service received from them, and because of this will have to change doctors. I must be able to rely on the office staff just as much the primary care doctor, and I have called several times in the past few weeks rarely receiving answer. This will be 8-10 calls in a row with no pick up."
"My mother in law warned me that the doctor is notorious for not being there. She has called in to schedule her appointments and specifically mentioned she needed to see Dr. Montes, they confirmed and she showed up only to find out the doctor left. This has happened on multiple occasions. When scheduling my husbands appt recently, I specifically asked that he see the doctor, I was looking for an appointment in the afternoon and they told me the latest the doctor could see us was 11:45. Not only was that inconvenient because I couldn't complete half a work day, but I show up and they inform us that the doctor is not seeing any more patients. That is completely unprofessional. My husband and his family have been seeing Dr. Montes for over 12 years and I’ve heard he is great!...when they are able to actually see him. In addition, I am not pleased with the staff. I called to get an overview of the prescriptions they gave my husband. (The reason being, we both left the appointment slightly confused. Although Spanish is our first language, it is not our primary language. The assistant spoke a bit of English to us, however, it was mainly Spanish. She had to stop for a bit to have me translate specific words to him. My issue with this is, If you see that he is obviously not grasping the content completely, why continue to speak to him in Spanish? Don’t get me wrong, she was very sweet and really seemed to know what she was talking about, however, we did not fully get the message. I do take partial fault in this, as we did not stop her to request English only.) I spoke to a woman named Karla at the front desk, who was supposed to give me the overview on the prescriptions and the purpose of them. She placed me on hold for over 10 min, when I called back she said “oh, yea, you need to go over your husbands prescriptions, right?” Did she just forget that I was waiting? It is truly disappointing that I have to even think about changing my husbands physician of over 12 years."
"I have been going to Dr. Montes for many years and love him as a doctor. He is very caring, informative and knowledgeable in his field and I totally trust his judgement for my health, family and friends. Though I highly recommend him as a doctor I have been very discouraged with his front staff. I initially started with him at the Bellaire location which was the best service ever. I then followed him to the 59 location where I started noticing the changes with his front staff. I understand working in the healthcare field myself how the business part should be conducted in a professional manner. Due to the lack of either training or knowledge of front staff it made it very difficult for me to continue seeing Dr. Montes because of his staff which saddened me. After having another doctor that transferred to working in Emergency Care only I could not find another doctor as great as Dr. Montes. I decided to go back after some years to give it another try and it seems his front staff lacks in their work ethics and job duties. I feel extensive training should be done, conducted and practiced to deliver the best service for the patients because ultimately we are their paychecks. It just seems every time I go some kind of issue arises or is not done where I consistently need to follow up with the office for something. This definitely needs to be fixed. I don’t mind the change in hours and understand after years of practicing he might want to cut back a bit. I feel after driving for over 1hour just to see him should say enough as a patient and show how good of a doctor he is."
"I agree with the person that said if there was a zero star, that would be the one I would choose. Not only did he treat my mother and my stepfather for over 15 years, he treated me for around 5 years. During that time, his staff were completely inexperienced or didn't know what customer service was at all. I had made several appointments with him only to show up and be told he wasn't in that day. No one ever calls to let you know not to come to the office. Then he hired some other "doctor" who has the absolute worst bedside manner I have ever seen. They frequently made me see him when I would specifically say I want Dr. Montes and I still got the helper doctor who could care less what was wrong with you and dismiss you in less than 3 to 4 minutes. The last problem I had was Dr. Montes had to give me three separate injections of cortizone in my elbows. I had told him about my constant back issues so he told me to set up an MRI with the MRI company downstairs of which he owns. I did and I got the MRI and when I would call his office, I was told over a two week period that the results were not in and they would call me when they were. They never called so I called the MRI place and they told me over the phone my results and sent me a disc of it and a written report of exactly what was wrong. They also told me Dr. Montes was given my results a week and a half before. So I called about 5 to 8 times and each time, they would tell me they couldn't schedule me and to wait for a call from them. Well the last call I made to them, I was finally told that Dr. Montes is no longer wanting to treat me and I would get a letter in the mail explaining why. I never got the letter and am very upset that I wasted five years trusting a doctor who could care less about his patients, especially his Caucasian patients. I rarely ever heard anyone speak English in the whole establishment since the first day I started seeing him. I tell everyone I can, that he is the absolute worst doctor in the Houston area and possibly in Texas. Shame on him and his fake doctor. Hopefully his office will be shut down from all of the complaints they get."
