Bequette-Ribault House
About the Business
The Bequette-Ribault House, located at 351 Saint Marys Road in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, is a historic museum and tourist attraction. Built in 1808 by Jean-Baptiste Bequette, Sr., this two-room Creole house is a rare example of Norman truss and "poteaux-en-terre" construction. The house has been restored to accurately reflect its original components and time period.
Visitors can explore the Bequette-Ribault House on public tours held on Saturdays from May to October, or book private tours during the winter months. The Hospitality Center, located in a restored outbuilding, features a timeline of the house's history and a Tasting Bar where guests can sample award-winning wines from Chaumette Vineyards & Winery.
The cultural history of the Bequette-Ribault House is rich and intriguing, with ties to prominent Ste. Genevieve families and free people of color. The property has been owned by descendants of Clarisse Ribault since 1840, adding to the fascinating story of those who lived there.
We invite you to visit the Bequette-Ribault House to learn more about its history and enjoy a glass of wine in the Hospitality Center. Tours are complimentary, but donations are appreciated. To book a tour, please call 573-747-1000. Explore this unique piece of Ste. Genevieve's past and immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of the region.
