"Of course, Shanghai Terrace has gotta be top notch as it's part of the Peninsula Group right? I gotta say though this go round, top notch feels like an understatement. Been here several times before and have been wanting to go again several times in the past year and a half but kept having to cancel our reservations till one day we didn't. The service aspect was exceptional. I've never had any problems with service here but this time, they made what has already been fantastic service into exceptional. See, in the past while the service has always been top notch, there has always been this very slight robotic character to it; not this time. This time, their service did not feel robotic at all. They were very engaged, made fantastic recommendations and took care of us really well. The food I mean; there's nothing not to like about it. We had some vegetable dumplings which were simply out of this world. We had a salad which was terrific. We ordered the happy rice (God I need to find out which region of China that comes from and get a recipe. It is GOOOOOOOD) and the noodles with all the meats which too was just amazing. The only thing that was not on mark was the crispy tofu. The first round that came was a little undercooked so we had to send it back. While the second time was cooked right, the outer layer seemed very different than what they have done in the past. The seasoning was a bit off and the outer layer was just thicker and crispier. Other than that though, this place rocks."

"Great food. Their lunch menu and dinner menu are not the same. Peking duck was amazing and cucumber salad - and of course can’t forget the dim sum"

"This is the worst dinning experience I had in last a few years. I chose the restaurant because it’s within the hotel we stayed and convenient for us to go. I also had high expectations for the restaurant since it’s a Chinese Restaurant located within The Peninsula, which has a Hong Kong background. But I have to say it’s even below the average standard of most Canton style Chinese restaurants, the menu is lack of choices, the dishes are too salty and the service is far away from the definition of fine dinning, which the price is charged based on. The food didn’t taste weird as they were too salty to tell but my little one and I developed symptoms of vomit and diarrhea after the dinner that night while my husband and older one seemed to be fine and we had to cancel all the plans the next day to rest in the hotel."

"My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and we had a phenomenal experience! First of all, the staff are all so friendly and helpful; they immediately set the ambiance while seating you. The outdoor terrace had such a great energy about it and was a great spot to enjoy our meal. The pork dumplings were very juicy and flavorful, the scallops were melt-in-your mouth good (although the picture doesn’t do them Justice), and the Kung Pao Chicken was incredible. We also both loved our cocktails! In addition, the restaurant brought a complimentary dessert to help make my birthday that much more special. We would definitely come here again!"

"One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! All of the food that we ordered was absolutely perfect! The scallops were buttery smooth, the dumplings were firm and not sticky and the lobster came with A LOT of lobster! The staff was so intentional about the way that they served. They laughed with us and treated us so well! If you get the chance, sit outside on the terrace. It’s probably the most secluded feeling area in the entire city. Cannot reccomend this place enough!"
