H&R Block

"They are laughably incompetent. I highly recommend using literally anyone else. (Posting for Slaughter and S. Lamar offices, as they bounced me between the two for some reason?) Specifically -Sylvia Loera: would not reply to my messages, and took me calling the office ~5 times for her to even call me back. I submitted my taxes mid February, and it took until April 18th for HRBlock to get back to me due to her. After nearly 8 weeks had gone by I was able to get switched off of her. -Mary Aquilar: Seems to not know much about finance. Had to be coached by another professional through my entire appointment as she did not know what she was doing. Made my appt last ~2hrs as she basically sat there doing nothing, waiting for the actual professional to do the work for her. At one point, she was convinced a 401k rollover into a Roth IRA needed a early withdrawal penalty. After 10 minutes of telling her she was wrong, that person coaching her came over and laughed with me about how wrong Mary was. -Mgmt: left me out to dry. All those times I called the office I was told, “this is unacceptable”, “We hear this often about Sylvia… I can’t say more as I’m in office…” and promises to remedy this. It took you 2 months of me hounding you to even get a “pro” on my taxes, just to deliver your work on tax day with a surprise $3,000 added to an already large tax bill. At least you asked for a full payment from me for your “great” work to make it right!!"

"Sylvia was the definition of horrible customer service and not being prepared for her meeting. I set FIVE meetings with H&R Block on South Lamar, two of them never showed up and three of them were with Sylvia. In short, all three of the meetings, I had to call into the office to find out if Sylvia would be able to attend the meeting we had scheduled. She would then call me back 45 to 55 minutes after our scheduled time meeting, never apologized, said that she has horrible time management skills and forgot our meeting. When we finally were able to talk on the phone, the meeting took over 5 hours. This was because Sylvia had not done her work before the meeting as she had told me she had been working on my account the last three weeks when she was unable to take our scheduled meeting time. She also failed to call me back several times to let me know what the next steps would be, she also took two other clients in the middle of our meetings without calling to let me know.."

"Mimi, She makes my wife and I understand what we are doing and understanding about our taxes. She makes us feel like we are family. She is the reason why we came back to this location as well. Great customer service."

"My specialist was super sweet, but honestly not very good. I had to correct her input of information many, many times. And she extremely struggled with the flags at the end, and ultimately just ignored them. Our session took approximately three hours. I feel very uneasy about my tax returns."
