"H&R Block is a good company to file your return, I've been with them for years. This location (W 43rd) is not. The Manager and both tax preparers (who share the same last name) are very unprofessional. A few tips: 1. Tone down the arrogance. This is for the older lady. 2. Don't agree to assist then bail out without an explanation. This is for the younger lady who shares the older one's last name. 3. The Manager (Ms. S.) needs to make sure that the client is satisfied. Especially, if they have been coming to H&R Block for years. If you want professional services rendered, go to the W TC Jester location. I did."

"Do NOT come here to file your taxes!!! USE TURBO TAX. If I could give this review zero stars I would. So many things went wrong during my appointment, I'm only writing the highlights. As soon as the employee started hovering over the information bubbles on the screen, I knew right away this would not be a good appointment. She had no idea what she was doing and I ended up having to teach her how to file my own taxes! No help AT ALL. I provided her with a few charitable donation documents for the year which she failed to add up correctly 3 times. Did she notice that she added them up incorrectly? Of course not. I had to tell her that. The first calculation was 1/6 of my donations! Goodbye refund if I wasn't watching! I had to calculate it for her... She also made assumptions on what my taxes would look like without looking at the documents I provided. When I asked her about the standard deductible she proceeded to tell me that for single status it is ~$19k. Please tell me how this could be... again I had to inform her of basic information that she should already know that it was ~$12k. Next we get to the "other deductions" section which she quickly clicked "Next" on. Didn't even bother asking me if I had something to provide. Told her to go back and we proceeded to talk about sales tax. She asks me, "did you pay any sales tax in 2022?". I then again had to explain to her that everyone pays sales tax on almost all purchases... how she did not know this I am not sure. In short, we get into the details and I proceed to find out she does not know how the program works that she is using. She calls over another employee who has a better idea but still doesn't know what to do and can't help because her next appointment is here. In the end, she has the audacity to ask me if I want to pay minimum $180 (could be more but she didn't even know if I qualified for the extra $40 fee...) after I was the one who taught her how to fill out the forms... ridiculous. If you are going here you need to go somewhere else. Use Turbo Tax. You will save time and money! You will learn more from the prompts on the screen than the advisors here that are supposed to know a thing or two about taxes, but were obviously clueless. One positive thing was that the receptionist and advisor were nice... to bad nice does not equate to accuracy."

"I would possibly consider doing my taxes online next year, but overall my experience was pleasant. Mary helped us, and she was extremely sweet and attentive. I would recommend anybody looking for an in-person tax preparation to come into H&R Block."
